What does Signature Edition add?
More space for downloaded content
The Signature Edition doubles the internal capacity from 16 GB to 32 GB. Amazon reports about 25 GB available to the user on the Signature Edition and about 11.5 GB on the standard Paperwhite. The extra room may help if you keep a large collection downloaded on the device; whether it matters depends on the size of your library and how you use it.

Wireless charging
Amazon says the 2024 Signature Edition supports both wired and wireless charging. Wireless charging requires a compatible Qi-certified charger, which is sold separately. Amazon’s Kindle Paperwhite setup guidance identifies this model’s wireless-charging support; its wireless-charging troubleshooting guidance recommends a Made for Amazon dock or another compatible Qi-certified charging device. Check compatibility before buying a charger.
What is the same on both?
Amazon lists these features for both 2024 models:
- Touchscreen and USB-C charging port
- Adjustable warm light and dark mode
- IPX8 waterproofing
- VoiceView screen reader over Bluetooth
- Estimated battery life of up to 12 weeks
The up-to-12-week figure is Amazon’s estimate, not a guarantee of identical battery life in everyday use. The shared specifications do not establish that the devices perform identically under every condition.

Which one should you choose?
Choose the standard Paperwhite if…
- Its 16 GB internal storage is enough for the content you want downloaded.
- USB-C wired charging works for you.
Choose the Signature Edition if…
- You want the additional storage for a larger downloaded library.
- You specifically value the option to charge wirelessly and are willing to use a compatible Qi-certified charger.
Amazon’s published specifications establish these feature differences, but do not establish that the Signature Edition has a faster processor, longer battery life, superior screen or otherwise different reading experience. Current prices and offers are not specified here; compare the live listings before deciding whether the extra features justify any price difference.
