What the reported Kindle Kids deal includes
Tom’s Guide listed the 16 GB Kindle Kids at Amazon for $122, compared with a $179 reference price. The outlet described a decorated cover, ad-free books, a glare-free display and faster page turning. The report does not establish that Amazon’s live price remains $122, so verify the listing before buying.

How the offer relates to October Prime Day
Amazon announced that Prime Big Deal Days 2026 is scheduled for October 6–7, with early deals already available. Since the Kindle price was reported on September 30, it is best understood as a lead-up offer rather than a discount guaranteed to run throughout the event. Amazon’s event announcement

Check the model before comparing it with Colorsoft Kids
The discounted product is the monochrome Kindle Kids 16 GB. Amazon’s announcement about Kindle Colorsoft Kids covers a separate color-screen model; its features and included subscription should not be assumed to apply to this deal.
If you are comparing children’s Kindles, check the live price, screen size and display type, storage, generation, cover, subscription duration, warranty and parental-control terms. Colorsoft’s color display may suit readers who want comics or illustrated books, but it is not a feature of the monochrome Kindle Kids offer.

What to verify on Amazon before buying
- Open the live Kindle Kids listing and confirm that it is the 16 GB model.
- Check the displayed price and reference price; the $122 offer was reported by Tom’s Guide, not captured from Amazon’s live listing here.
- Confirm the generation, screen size, cover and any subscription included with that exact configuration.
- Review the listing’s warranty and parental-control terms, then check stock and delivery details.
Amazon reported that children who read graphic novels and comics spent 46% more total reading time than the average Kindle Kids reader in 2024. That is Amazon’s company-published figure about reading behavior, not independent evidence that a device or format causes children to read more.
