Kik says it does not notify someone when you block them. They can still send messages, but those messages are not delivered to you; they see a D rather than an R. Your profile picture and changes to it may still appear on their device. In a group you share, you see their messages marked BLOCKED MESSAGE.
What the blocked person sees
Kik says the person you block will not be told directly that you blocked them. They can continue sending messages, but Kik says those messages do not reach you. The sender sees a D beside the message, not an R.

A D is not a read receipt. In this situation, it means the message was sent but was not delivered to you. Kik does not describe a separate notice or error message that confirms a block.

Your profile picture
Blocking does not hide your profile picture from the blocked person’s device, and changes to that picture may remain visible there. Kik’s guidance addresses the profile picture specifically; it does not establish what happens to every other profile detail.

What you see after blocking someone
Kik says messages from the blocked person are hidden from you, and their name no longer appears in your contact list. If you are both in a group chat, their messages—including bot messages they include—appear to you as BLOCKED MESSAGE.
How to block or unblock someone
- To block from a chat, open the person’s chat and tap their display name.
- Select More, then choose Block.
- To manage blocked contacts, go to Settings > Privacy > Block List. Use Unblock beside a person to reverse the action.
