There is no single proven one-to-one replacement for KgBase in the available product descriptions. KgBase is presented as a no-code knowledge-graph tool for exploring connections in data; the closest alternatives depend on whether you need to map relationships, visualize a database, make charts, access data, or find published research datasets.
What KgBase is—and what is not confirmed
Product Hunt describes KgBase as a no-code knowledge graph tool for individuals and communities to find connections in their data, with access to a library of platform datasets. Its listed categories are no-code platforms, data analysis, and data visualization. Product Hunt’s KgBase listing records a launch on April 9, 2020, and a #3 of the day ranking on that date; those are historical listing details, not evidence of current adoption or service quality.

Which alternative fits your job?
| Tool | Best fit indicated by the available description | What the evidence does—and does not—establish |
|---|---|---|
| Kumu | Mapping relationships and networks | Product Hunt describes it as a data-visualization platform for organizing complex information into interactive relationship maps. That makes it the clearest listed option for relationship mapping, but does not establish feature parity with KgBase. Kumu on Product Hunt |
| ChartDB | Visualizing database structure | Product Hunt presents it with the tagline “Your Database, Finally Visualized.” The listing does not establish knowledge-graph authoring capabilities. ChartDB on Product Hunt |
| Lychee | General data visualization | The KgBase alternatives page describes it as AI-powered data visualization; the description here does not establish graph-modeling features. KgBase alternatives on Product Hunt |
| Vizdium | Quick data visualization | The same alternatives page describes it as a quick, free data-visualization tool. That description does not establish relationship modeling or KgBase-equivalent workflows. KgBase alternatives on Product Hunt |
| Work With Data | Data access and workflows | Product Hunt frames it as democratizing data through a universal data source; the available description does not establish it as a graph-authoring substitute. Work With Data on Product Hunt |
| Our World in Data | Finding research-backed data and publications | Product Hunt describes it as a web publication showcasing empirical research and data. It is a potential data source, not a direct graph-authoring replacement. Our World in Data on Product Hunt |
Product Hunt also lists Sifter, DataMonkey, LiveDocs, Infira, CLUBASID, and InstaCharts as alternatives. The available descriptions suggest some overlap with sense-making, mapping, data agents, or visualization, but are not detailed enough to compare their current capabilities reliably. The “alternative” label is a discovery aid, not proof of direct competition, equivalent features, current availability, or suitability.
How to choose a practical substitute
Choose Kumu when the central task is showing connections
If your main output should be an interactive map of people, organizations, concepts, or other related items, Kumu’s described focus is the closest match among these options. Confirm that its current import methods, collaboration features, and sharing controls suit your dataset before committing; the cited listing does not answer those questions.
Choose ChartDB when the subject is a database schema
A visual representation of database structure is a different job from authoring a knowledge graph. ChartDB is relevant when you want to see a database, but the Product Hunt description does not show that it models semantic entities and relationships in the same way a knowledge-graph workflow might.

- THIS IS AN EXPANSION TO STAR WARS OUTER RIM: This is not a standalone experience. You will need a copy of the Star Wars Outer Rim base game in order to play with this expansion.
- TAKE TO THE STARS AND BECOME A LIVING LEGEND: You’ve made a name for yourself in the Outer Rim, but there is still Unfinished Business. Hyperlanes through the Core Worlds hold the promise of untapped opportunities. The market is flush with new merchandise, from valuable cargo to tools of the trade. Just watch your step; the latest crop of bounties is even deadlier, and your rivals are looking to take you down!
- STRATEGY GAME: The goal of Outer Rim is to be the first player to reach ten fame, but the path to notoriety can be different for every scoundrel. Cross paths with the various factions patrolling the Outer Rim, bring in iconic Star Wars characters dead or alive for bounties, or make a fortune delivering illegal cargo, dodging patrols and encounters across the galaxy.
- UNFINISHED BUSINESS: This long-awaited expansion is packed with more of everything the game has to offer - characters, ships, gear, bounties, jobs, encounters, dice and more! Two new tiles allow players to cross the galaxy by passing through the Core Worlds, and the new “favors” and “ambitions” change up how the game is played. Fire up your engines—it’s time to get down to business.
- NUMBER OF PLAYERS AND AVERAGE PLAYTIME: Star Wars Outer Rim is a strategy board game for 1 to 4 players and is suitable for ages 14 and older. Average playtime is approximately 3 to 4 hours.
Choose a visualization tool when charts are the outcome
Lychee and Vizdium are described in terms of data visualization. Consider them when the goal is to make data easier to inspect or present, rather than to maintain a model of entities and their relationships. The descriptions available here do not establish graph-building features.
Choose a data source when you need material to analyze
Work With Data is framed around access to data, while Our World in Data publishes empirical research and datasets. These can address data availability or research needs, but neither is presented in the cited description as a direct substitute for knowledge-graph authoring.
Verify capabilities before migrating
For any candidate, check its current documentation against your actual workflow. In particular, confirm whether it models entities and relationships or only displays data; how it accepts data (such as CSV, spreadsheets, APIs, or built-in datasets); whether it supports collaboration and versioning; what outputs can be shared; and the learning curve, technical requirements, pricing, limits, and current access terms. The cited product descriptions provide only partial answers to these questions, so a feature scorecard or winner would not be justified.

Is a knowledge-graph book an alternative?
No. A book can help you learn the subject, but it cannot replace software for creating, updating, or sharing a graph. MIT Press lists Knowledge Graphs: Fundamentals, Techniques, and Applications by Mayank Kejriwal, Craig A. Knoblock, and Pedro Szekely as a hardcover dated March 30, 2021 (ISBN 9780262045094), covering construction, enrichment, querying, and applications. It is background reading rather than a KgBase competitor. MIT Press book page
