KeyPrank is a no-install Windows novelty utility from hakJav Studios. It runs in the background and changes what selected keyboard keys produce. In SPACE mode, every press of the spacebar outputs the letters SPACE instead of inserting an ordinary blank space. You download it, run it on the Windows computer being used for the prank, and remove it by restarting Windows or ending the KeyPrank process in Task Manager.
What KeyPrank does
KeyPrank is designed for a short-lived keyboard prank rather than permanent software customization. The official FAQ describes the programs as running in the background and “swapping keyboard keys as they are pressed.” That means the effect is applied while someone types: the affected key still appears to work, but Windows receives a different character or sequence.

Use SPACE when your goal is specifically to make a spacebar type the word “SPACE.” For the other modes, treat the names as labels rather than as a documented technical specification; test them only where unexpected text will not cause damage.
Compatibility and requirements
Supported Windows devices
The official page says KeyPrank works on desktop and laptop computers. No separate hardware requirement, Windows edition requirement or minimum specification is stated. A normal Windows keyboard is therefore the relevant requirement, but the available documentation does not establish support for every historical or current Windows release.
Phones and tablets
KeyPrank is not intended for tablets or smartphones. Its documented target is a Windows desktop or laptop, so installing or running it on a mobile device is not a supported use case.

The official page says Mac availability would depend on the popularity of the site. That statement does not establish a current Mac release. Do not assume that a Windows download will run on macOS.

Installation and administrator rights
The instructions explicitly describe a no-install workflow. They do not say that administrator privileges are required, nor do they describe a service, startup entry or permanent system change. If Windows asks for a permission decision, read the prompt and use the account owner’s normal software policy rather than bypassing a restriction.
How to use KeyPrank on Windows
- Choose the Windows computer. Use a desktop or laptop where you have permission to run a novelty utility. Save any open work first, especially if another person will be typing.
- Download KeyPrank from the official KeyPrank page. The published instructions describe downloading the program and running it directly; they do not call for an installer or a setup wizard.
- Run the downloaded program. Open it on the computer where the keyboard effect should occur. Since the utility runs in the background, the visible window may not remain in front while the prank is active.
- Select a mode. Choose SPACE if you want the spacebar behavior documented below. The official site also lists vOwEl, ADCBE and LOL.
- Test in a disposable text field. Click a blank text box and press the affected key once or twice. This confirms that the mode is active before anyone enters a password, sends a message or edits an important document.
- Leave the program running for the intended duration. KeyPrank applies its changes while its background process is running. Closing or stopping that process ends the effect; restarting Windows also removes it.
No installation step should be expected. If a download presents an installer instead of a directly runnable utility, verify that you obtained the intended KeyPrank file before proceeding; the published instructions describe a run-without-installation process.
How to make the spacebar type “SPACE”
Use the SPACE mode. Once it is active, each press of the physical spacebar produces the five-character string SPACE rather than a blank separator. For example, typing hello, pressing the spacebar, and typing world results in text equivalent to helloSPACEworld, assuming no other key prank is changing those letters.
The replacement happens at input time, so it affects new keystrokes rather than rewriting text that was already present. Existing spaces in a document remain as they were until someone edits them. Likewise, text pasted from the clipboard is not described by the available documentation; the documented behavior concerns keys “as they are pressed.”

Test the mode in a harmless field before using it around another person. A visible “SPACE” token can make search queries, commands, filenames and messages invalid, and the person typing may not immediately know why.
What the other modes mean
KeyPrank’s official page names four modes: SPACE, vOwEl, ADCBE and LOL. The independent Windows Club review uses the labels Space, Vowel, Alphabet (ABCDE) and LOL for its examples. Only SPACE has a precise behavior documented in the available material.
The ADCBE label should not be silently “corrected” to a particular alphabet swap. The review’s “ABCDE” wording and the official “ADCBE” wording may describe the same example or different naming, but no complete mapping is supplied. Similarly, vOwEl and LOL do not have documented key maps here. If you experiment with them, do so in a text field that can be discarded and check the output before allowing normal work to continue.
Can more than one KeyPrank run at once?
Yes. The official site says that more than one KeyPrank can run simultaneously. This allows multiple prank modes to be active on the same Windows computer. For example, you could start one instance in SPACE mode and another instance using a different mode.

Combined effects can be difficult to predict because the available documentation does not define the order in which competing key substitutions are applied. A key changed by one process may also be affected by another, or the result may depend on which process receives the keystroke first. Start with one mode, verify its behavior, and add another only when the resulting text is acceptable for the intended joke.
Each running instance also creates another process to stop. If you need to clear every prank quickly, restarting Windows is simpler than locating individual processes.

Fastest method: restart Windows
The official FAQ says KeyPranks can be removed by restarting the computer. Save work, close applications normally, and restart Windows. This ends the background processes as part of the restart.

Manual method: Task Manager
The same FAQ gives this route: Ctrl+Alt+Del > Task Manager > Stop KeyPrank Processes. Use the security screen to open Task Manager, locate the KeyPrank process or processes, and stop them. If more than one KeyPrank is running, check for each corresponding process rather than stopping only the first one you see.

Stopping the process prevents further key substitutions; it does not repair text already entered while the prank was active. Review any affected document, message or command and correct the inserted characters manually.
Troubleshooting
The spacebar still inserts a normal space
- Confirm that the SPACE mode is the active instance, not one of the other named modes.
- Press the spacebar in a plain, editable text field to test it. A field that rejects input cannot show whether the mode is working.
- Check that the KeyPrank process is still running. If it was closed or stopped, launch it again using the download-and-run workflow.
- If several instances are active, stop them and test SPACE by itself. Multiple substitutions can make the output appear inconsistent.
The prank will not stop
- Use the documented restart method if you can safely save your work.
- Otherwise open Task Manager through Ctrl+Alt+Del and stop the KeyPrank processes.
- After stopping a process, test in a text field before resuming normal typing.
Text was damaged while testing
KeyPrank changes newly typed characters; it does not provide a documented undo or text-repair function. Use the application’s own undo command where available, or delete and re-enter the affected text after stopping the prank. Do not rely on the prank as a way to alter existing files automatically.
A mobile device cannot run it
That is expected. The official compatibility statement covers Windows desktop and laptop computers, not phones or tablets. The available information also does not confirm a current Mac version.

Use it responsibly
Run a keyboard prank only on a computer you own or have clear permission to use. Do not activate it while someone is entering a password, payment information, work data, a command-line instruction or an urgent message. A replacement such as SPACE can make a sentence unreadable, alter a search or command, or cause someone to send incorrect information.
Tell the person what happened promptly and stop the process as soon as the joke is over. Keep the test reversible: use a disposable text box, avoid unsaved documents, and prefer a short demonstration over leaving the utility active unattended.
KeyPrank compared with other prank utilities
