The Keychron K8 Ultra 8K is a capable, customizable tenkeyless wireless keyboard, but its 8K polling is only available over USB-C or 2.4 GHz—not Bluetooth—and its tall, heavy case may not suit every desk or typing posture. At $119.99 on Keychron’s US product page when checked, it makes the most sense if you want three connection modes and hot-swappable switches more than a low-profile design or guaranteed competitive advantage from a high polling rate.
What the Keychron K8 Ultra 8K is
The K8 Ultra 8K is an 80% tenkeyless (TKL) mechanical keyboard. It omits the number pad while retaining the main typing area, function row, and navigation keys. Keychron lists its dimensions as 359.2 × 129.2 mm and its weight as 1,299 g ± 10 g. That substantial, thick chassis can feel sturdy, but it is not a compact or lightweight board to move around frequently. Keychron’s product listing identifies ZMK firmware, Keychron Launcher support, south-facing RGB, and N-key rollover in wired and wireless modes.

How the 8K polling and connection modes work
Keychron specifies three connection options, but they do not all use the same polling rate. The manufacturer lists 8,000 Hz polling over USB-C wired and 2.4 GHz, and 125 Hz over Bluetooth. Bluetooth is the convenient option for device switching; use the included 2.4 GHz receiver or a wired connection if you specifically want the stated 8K mode.

An 8K polling specification is not proof that every user will notice lower end-to-end latency or perform better in games. The reviews cited here do not report controlled independent latency measurements. TechRadar’s reviewer used the keyboard for gaming, work, and browsing over a few days, including Counter-Strike 2, and reported easy Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz operation on Windows PCs; that is practical experience, not a latency benchmark. Switch options, typing feel, and customization
The K8 Ultra 8K is sold with Keychron Apex Red, Brown, or Banana switches. The PCB is hot-swappable, so compatible replacement switches can be installed without soldering. PC Gamer reports successfully changing the switches, making this a useful option if you expect to customize the board after purchase. Check switch compatibility and the feel you want before ordering. PC Gamer’s review describes the board’s sound as damped and its Brown switch bump as subtler than the reviewer preferred.
Switch impressions are personal rather than universal. TechRadar’s reviewer also had reservations about Brown switch feel, describing its travel as rough. If possible, try the selected switch type first; a hot-swap PCB makes later changes possible, but it does not make the stock feel a certainty.

Comfort, build, and RGB details
The thick, tall profile is the clearest ergonomic caveat in the reviews. TechRadar’s reviewer found wrist support desirable, and its roundup also flags the board’s thickness and weight. A wrist rest may help, but fit depends on your desk height, hand position, and preference. Check the listed dimensions against your available space and typing setup before buying.

Its reviewer found the chassis solid, but noted that the keycap legends are opaque enough to limit the usefulness of RGB in darkness. The board has south-facing RGB according to Keychron; consider the lighting a visual feature rather than assuming it will make the legends easy to read at night.

Battery life: treat the figures as conditional
Keychron lists a 4,000 mAh rechargeable battery and claims up to 760 hours at 8K with the backlight off, or up to 230 hours at 8K with RGB at its lowest brightness. These are manufacturer estimates, not guaranteed runtimes. PC Gamer reports 225 hours with lighting at its lowest setting, but its conditions may not match Keychron’s estimate. Expect runtime to depend on lighting and use rather than treating either figure as a promise for every setup.
Price and alternatives
Keychron’s US product page listed the K8 Ultra 8K at $119.99 when checked; TechRadar lists the same price, while PC Gamer rounds it to $120. Prices and availability vary by retailer and region, so verify the current price and switch configuration before ordering. TechRadar’s 2026 keyboard roundup positions it as a value option with triple-mode connectivity and hot-swap support, while noting its thickness, weight, and comfort trade-offs.

TechRadar also names the MonsGeek FUN60 Ultra, with magnetic analog switches, as a lower-budget gaming alternative, and the Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro 75% as a more premium mechanical option. These are alternatives for different budgets or priorities, not direct equivalents: they differ in switch technology, form factor, or price tier. Consider it if you want a TKL layout, wired/2.4 GHz/Bluetooth options, an 8K polling specification in wired or 2.4 GHz mode, and the ability to swap switches. It is a less natural fit if you need a slim, light keyboard, are sensitive to wrist position, or expect Bluetooth to use the 8K polling rate. The buying decision should turn on layout, comfort, and preferred switch feel—not the polling number alone.
