For a typical fantasy lineup, Khalil Shakir is the safer start over Keon Coleman. ESPN’s 2026 season projections give Shakir a substantially larger receiving workload and PPR total. Coleman is a riskier upside play, and the Bills currently list him as questionable with an ankle injury; check his final status before kickoff.
How do their 2026 projections compare?
ESPN’s 2026 projections favor Shakir across targets, catches, receiving yards and PPR points. These are season-long forecasts, not current-season results or a matchup-specific prediction.

The Bills’ published depth chart lists Shakir first at one wide receiver position, with Greg Dortch second, and Coleman first at another, with Joshua Palmer second. That establishes both as relevant players on the chart, but it does not show their weekly target shares. Availability is the more immediate concern for Coleman: the Bills’ injury report lists an ankle injury, with DNP Wednesday, limited practice Thursday and Friday, and a questionable game designation. Confirm the latest team update and active/inactive list before setting your lineup. Bills injury report
The NFL’s Week 4 report listed Coleman as limited in practice without an injury or game designation. For this lineup decision, the more specific Bills team report supplies the ankle and questionable details. NFL Week 4 injury report

When should you start each receiver?
Start Shakir when you want the steadier projection
Shakir is the default choice if you are prioritizing expected opportunity. ESPN projects him for more than twice Coleman’s targets and receptions, as well as a higher projected PPR total. That makes Shakir the stronger baseline choice, though the figures remain season projections rather than a forecast for a particular opponent or week.

Consider Coleman only for a higher-risk swing
Coleman may be a speculative alternative if he is active and your lineup needs upside, but the available figures do not establish a matchup-specific ceiling. Do not start him without checking his final availability; the questionable designation is not confirmation that he will play.
