Its documented configuration makes it worth considering if you find a complete, compatible unit, but the public evidence available here does not reveal its independent task scores or establish current stock and price. Treat any purchase as a check of the exact model, condition, included parts and seller terms—not as a recommendation based on unverified performance claims.
What is the Kenwood FDM785BA?
The FDM785BA is a combination appliance: it processes food in a bowl and blends in a separate jug. CHOICE classifies it as a food processor/blender combo and marks it discontinued. Its public listing records a 1000 W rating, a 1.5 L capacity field, weight of 3.4 kg and dimensions of 40 × 21 × 22 cm. CHOICE’s capacity field is not explicitly identified as the blender capacity, and its separate blender-capacity field is listed as not recorded. CHOICE’s FDM785BA listing is therefore useful for basic recorded specifications and lifecycle status, not for assigning that capacity to a particular vessel.

A Kenwood brochure comparison table hosted by ServiceSphere in 2018 assigns this model a 3 L processor bowl and a 1.5 L glass blender. It also lists eight speeds, auto and pulse. These are brochure specifications; the document is an older configuration reference and does not guarantee what is in a particular regional or second-hand box. The Kenwood brochure table provides the clearest source for the bowl and blender capacities.

How much can the public evidence say about performance?
CHOICE lists assessment categories including slicing hard food, crumbing, shredding firm food, shortcrust pastry, emulsifying, blender performance and noise. However, the expert rating, task results, ease-of-use score and noise measurement are not visible in its public listing. No specific performance strength, weakness or numerical score can be established from the accessible results, so the published specifications should not be mistaken for a performance verdict.

ProductReview.com.au displays 2.2/5 from 10 submitted reviews and also labels the model discontinued. That small, self-selected set of user accounts can offer individual experiences, but it is not a controlled test or a representative failure-rate estimate. The FDM785 listing on ProductReview.com.au should be read with that limitation in mind.
Is the Kenwood FDM785BA worth buying now?
It may suit someone specifically seeking one machine for processing and blending, particularly if a complete unit is available at an acceptable price. The evidence does not establish a current market price, present stock, warranty terms or seller conditions, and CHOICE’s listed A$419 is not a verified current offer. An exact-model retailer page exists at Appliances Online Australia, but the existence of a page does not establish that it is in stock or that its package details are current.

For a discontinued appliance, the condition and completeness of the specific unit matter as much as its headline specifications. Before buying, check:
- Exact identity and region: Confirm the full FDM785BA model code and that its electrical specification is suitable for your country.
- Included accessories: Ask for a complete attachment list and clear photographs; compare them with the claimed configuration rather than assuming the original bundle is intact.
- Condition: Inspect the bowl, lid, blender jar, discs, blades, drive interfaces, seals and locking parts for damage or missing components.
- Seller protection: Confirm return rights, warranty coverage and who handles a fault, especially for used or clearance stock.
- Parts pathway: Check whether the particular replacement part you may need is listed for your exact model and regional version.
These checks do not establish how well a particular machine performs; they help you avoid paying for a unit that is incomplete, incompatible or difficult to maintain.

- Built-in bowl scraper saves time. Quickly process ingredients without stopping to use a spatula. Simply move the scraper from side-to-side to scrape the bowl while the food processor is running or the power is off — no need to remove the lid.
- Slice, shred, chop, mix and puree with 2 versatile attachments. The Hamilton Beach food processor gives you 5 processing functions and includes a stainless steel slicing/shredding disc and chopping/pureeing blade so you can tackle every job with ease.
- Powerful 450 watt motor. Make healthy salads, homemade salsa, hearty acai bowls and more. The 450 watt motor easily powers through the toughest ingredients, so you can spend less time processing and more time enjoying.
- Precise control with 2 speeds plus pulse. The low and high speeds plus pulse give you the control you need for a variety of recipes. Use the high speed when you need more power and select the low speed for processing or mixing delicate foods.
- 10 cup bowl capacity. The generous 10 cup bowl fits large volumes of food all at once, and the large feed chute saves you time by reducing the need to pre-cut food before processing or using as a vegetable chopper.
Can you still get FDM785 replacement parts?
De’Longhi Australia’s parts catalog includes the MultiPro Classic type FDM785 in an AU/NZ version and lists items such as a blend canopy and disc assemblies. This is evidence of a regional parts pathway, not a promise that every part is available or compatible with every FDM785BA suffix or market. Check the model and regional version shown on the appliance before ordering. The De’Longhi Australia FDM785 parts catalog is the relevant starting point for that region.
For instructions, Kenwood provides an official food-processor manual search portal. Search using the exact type or model code and the appliance’s market. The portal result does not itself identify an FDM785BA manual. A third-party ManualsLib archive of FDM785BA instructions exists, but for safety procedures use the official manual for the exact appliance and regional version. The archived instructions include cautions about sharp discs, the bowl’s maximum-fill marking and hot ingredients when blending.

Verdict
The FDM785BA’s documented appeal is its combination of a processor and blender, with a substantial brochure-listed accessory set. The key uncertainty is not what the older brochure says it was configured to include, but what performance evidence is publicly visible and what condition, contents and support come with the individual unit you can actually buy. Approach it as a discontinued model: verify the precise regional SKU and box contents, inspect its condition, and confirm parts and seller terms before deciding.
