KEEN’s UNEEK Mule WK (style 1033311) is an all-gender, open-backed slip-on that adapts the UNEEK Loafer WK into a relaxed mule silhouette. It retains a leather upper and woven leather-cord detail, then pairs them with KEEN.CURVE, the brand’s curved sole unit. KEEN frames the design around easy entry, walking comfort and movement; those are product aims, not independently verified performance results.
What is the UNEEK Mule WK?
It is a mule loafer: a slip-on with an open heel, built from the UNEEK Loafer WK concept and the cord design associated with the original UNEEK. KEEN Japan calls it ユニーク ミュール ダブルケー; KEEN’s US product page lists it as the All Gender UNEEK Mule WK. The model number is 1033311. The central design change from the loafer is the open-backed shape, which makes it easier to slide on and off while retaining the loafer-inspired upper.
KEEN’s Carlie Satchwell, Senior Director of Product Management, Lifestyle, described the open heel as a way to make the UNEEK Loafer WK more modern and relaxed while preserving its refined look. The statement appears in KEEN Japan’s September 30, 2026 release and is translated here from Japanese.
How is it constructed?
Leather and woven cord upper
KEEN Japan specifies an upper combining 2.5 mm leather cord and leather. The brand says the premium leather comes from a Leather Working Group-certified tannery and that stitching and weaving are finished by hand. KEEN’s US page also lists a premium leather upper, leather lining and leather-wrapped insole. These are manufacturer specifications; they are not independent material test results.

Footbed, midsole and outsole
KEEN Japan describes a footbed made with plant-derived-material polyurethane, molded to the shape of the foot and topped with leather. The release also lists a compression-molded EVA midsole and a non-marking, high-traction rubber outsole. KEEN’s US product page describes the outsole as higher-traction rubber and lists Eco Anti-Odor. Those descriptions identify the intended materials and features, rather than establishing how the shoe performs in use.
What KEEN says KEEN.CURVE is meant to do
KEEN describes KEEN.CURVE as a continuous curve running from toe to heel, designed to support ongoing propulsion. Its Japan release says the sole is intended to support natural foot movement and stability. The UK-focused Notion article also describes high-rebound cushioning and a low-profile lug outsole; that description should be attributed to that article, not treated as an independently measured result.

The design aims may help explain the pairing: an easy-on mule upper with a sole KEEN associates with performance walking. But the available product information does not establish that this mule is more comfortable, stable, grippy or efficient than the UNEEK Loafer WK or another shoe. No independent wear test of the new mule was identified.

Where to look for style 1033311
For Japan, KEEN’s September 30 release names KEEN GARAGE HARAJUKU, KEEN’s official online store, LOFTMAN, H BEAUTY&YOUTH, KICKS LAB., mita sneakers, Herringbone Footwear and atmos Sendagaya among the initial distribution points. It also announced a planned Isetan Shinjuku pop-up later in October. This is the launch announcement’s initial list, not confirmation of present stock.

In the US, the official KEEN product page is a product reference for style 1033311. For the UK, the October 1 date and £190 price are reported by the Notion article rather than independently confirmed on an official UK listing. KEEN presents the style as an evolution of its UNEEK line: a more relaxed, open-backed shape applied to the UNEEK Loafer WK, with leather and woven-cord details and the KEEN.CURVE sole. Satchwell’s comments in the Japanese release describe the combination as a natural extension of the brand’s performance-walking sole into a mule loafer. “Mule moment” is therefore a framing for this product launch, not a market-wide trend established here by sales figures or an independent study.
