Kawasaki has announced plans to develop CORLEO, but its official materials do not establish a humanoid robot designed to accompany or ride it. The “robot human” is best understood as playful headline framing, not a confirmed project.
What is Kawasaki’s robot horse?
CORLEO is a four-legged, rider-controlled vehicle concept designed for off-road travel—not a conventional horse-shaped robot. Kawasaki introduced it for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, describing a machine that draws on the company’s motorcycle and robotics expertise. The rider controls it by shifting body weight, in a manner Kawasaki compares to horseback riding. Kawasaki’s April 2025 announcement describes the concept and its intended use on terrain where wheeled travel may be difficult.

How the concept is meant to move
CORLEO’s rear legs move vertically and independently using a motorcycle-derived swingarm mechanism. Kawasaki says this arrangement is intended to absorb shocks and help the rider assess the terrain. The concept announcement also describes a hydrogen canister and hydrogen engine that generates electricity; this is a proposed configuration, not a confirmed specification for a production vehicle.
What rider evaluation has involved
A February 2026 technical review describes ergonomic work using a clay mock-up and riders from Kobe University’s equestrian club. The evaluation considered details such as stirrup height, footwork and riding position. That is concept-stage ergonomic evaluation, not evidence of field testing on a finished production vehicle. Is Kawasaki making a robot human to go with CORLEO?
The official materials reviewed do not announce a humanoid companion for CORLEO, or a humanoid robot intended to ride it. Kawasaki discusses humanoid robotics separately from CORLEO in its broader robotics and physical-AI activities. The company’s May 2026 physical-AI announcement places CORLEO among several initiatives but does not establish a shared function, planned pairing or launch with a humanoid robot. Kawasaki’s physical-AI announcement and its R&D overview distinguish those areas of work.

No current retail availability is established in Kawasaki’s published materials. On December 3, 2025, the company said it had begun development toward commercialization, formed a dedicated SAFE ADVENTURE Business Development Team and targeted on-site mobility use at Expo 2030 Riyadh. Kawasaki’s stated commercialization aim is 2035. These are company targets, not guaranteed dates or confirmation that a consumer model will be offered.

Kawasaki also said it planned to complete a riding simulator by 2027. The company describes the simulator as a way to verify ride feel and operability, with possible applications for its motion data and 3D models in gaming and esports. Its R&D page, reviewed October 7, 2026, continues to describe CORLEO as under development and those dates as aims. Kawasaki’s December 2025 development announcement sets out the targets.
