The announcement describes planned activity, not measured results. It does not establish how much any individual measure will reduce crime or accidents.

Police cited risks associated with crowds, travel and homes left unattended during the holidays. The reported concerns include theft, pickpocketing, robbery, threats, gambling, counterfeit currency, drink-spiking fraud, firecracker accidents, drink-driving and counterfeit tickets. OnlineKhabar’s account also lists serious offences including murder, rape, human trafficking and kidnapping.

A Kathmandu Valley Police Office notice for the 2081 (2024) festival season listed 8,387 personnel across security and traffic roles. It described measures including pedestrian and mobile patrols, plain-clothes deployment, CCTV, walk-through gates, drones, traffic and disaster management, trained dogs and passenger help desks. That earlier notice provides historical context, not a like-for-like comparison with the 2026 announcement: the year, geographic description and reported staffing scope differ.
