That is a higher share on Android, but it does not mean three times as many children saw adult content: the figures describe activity categories, not the percentage of children exposed.
What Kaspersky’s India comparison found
IT Voice reports that Kaspersky analyzed anonymized activity associated with Indian Kaspersky Safe Kids users during Q1 2026, comparing Android and Windows separately. The adult-content category represented 5.71% of Android activity and 1.91% of Windows activity. The figures and their attribution to Kaspersky appear in IT Voice’s August 26, 2026 report.

The comparison is specifically between Android and Windows activity. “Smartphones versus computers” is a convenient shorthand, but the report does not establish that every Android device was a phone or every Windows device a desktop computer. Nor does it compare iOS with other computer operating systems.

The percentages are shares of recorded activity assigned to a content category. They are not the percentage of Indian children who encountered adult content, a count of children, or a measure of the likelihood that a particular child will see it. The report does not disclose the number of users or devices analyzed or enough methodology to determine how representative the data is.

A category share also does not show that every recorded visit resulted in a child viewing harmful material. The figures alone cannot establish that Android causes more exposure, that a particular child encountered adult content, or that any child was harmed. The report describes a difference in observed category shares, not a causal experiment.
How the other activity categories compare
The report also gives shares for broad activity categories. In both operating-system groups, Internet, Communication and Media and Software, Audio and Video account for larger shares than the adult-content category. These figures provide context for the reported activity mix; they do not establish what children were doing or why.

All values are reported activity-category shares in the Indian Kaspersky Safe Kids data for Q1 2026, as described by IT Voice. A category visit is not necessarily harmful exposure, and the report does not establish that the categories represent comparable levels of risk.
What parents can take from the report
The result is a reason to pay attention to the devices a child uses, not evidence that one operating system is inherently unsafe. Kaspersky India General Manager Jaydeep Singh told IT Voice: “Mobile devices in particular are where we’re seeing that gap widen, and that’s exactly where parents need to stay closest.” The report suggests device supervision as a possible contextual difference, but does not test why the Android and Windows shares differ.

Parents can use technical controls alongside clear, age-appropriate expectations and regular conversations about what a child encounters online. Filters can block selected categories or sites, but they should not be treated as a guarantee that every harmful item will be caught or that a child will never encounter it.
Use filtering as one layer
Kaspersky’s official Safe Kids product page lists web filtering and Safe Search, app and website controls, screen-time management, activity reports, and GPS features. It lists support for Windows, macOS, Android and iOS. These are capabilities stated by the vendor, not independent evidence that the product blocks every risky item.

IT Voice says Kaspersky Safe Kids blocks visits in real time for categories such as adult content and gambling when parents have activated the relevant blocks. That is a claim about the product reported by the vendor; the report does not provide independent efficacy testing. Parents choosing any parental-control tool should check which devices and settings it covers and review its activity with their child.

Pair controls with online-safety learning
The IT Voice report also describes Kaspersky’s KidZania India partnership and Cyber Investigation Centres in Mumbai and Delhi NCR, where role-play activities are intended to help children recognize and respond to online threats. That approach reflects a useful complement to filtering: children need opportunities to learn what to do when they encounter something uncomfortable, confusing or unsafe.

How current and complete is this evidence?
The numeric comparison is presented here through IT Voice’s account of Kaspersky data; a primary Kaspersky publication containing the Q1 2026 figures and methodology is not cited in that report. Its undisclosed sample size and representativeness mean the data should not be generalized to all Indian children or treated as a population estimate. It also says nothing directly about current activity after Q1 2026.
Kaspersky published a separate international survey in 2016 involving 3,780 families with children aged 8–16 across seven countries. It reported differences in self-reported exposure between children classified by that report as Internet-dependent and others, but those historical findings do not corroborate the India device comparison and should not be treated as clinical diagnoses or current prevalence data.
