A vehicle permit is required to enter every Kansas state park, and the fee is per vehicle—not per passenger. Prices listed through October 31, 2026 differ from the schedule that begins November 1, 2026. Overnight stays also require a separate camping permit, with possible utility, prime-site, and processing charges.

Annual permit or Passport?
These are not equivalent “annual” permits. The standard annual vehicle permit covers the calendar year for which it is bought. The Passport is obtained through Kansas vehicle registration and ends when that registration expires. It must be permanently attached to the registered vehicle, so it cannot be moved to another vehicle or owner. See KDWP’s Passport information for eligibility and purchase details.
Do I need a separate permit to camp?
Yes. Every overnight stay requires a camping permit in addition to the vehicle permit. Camping charges are generally per camping unit per night; the $2.75 processing fee applies per camping stay. Camping permits expire at 2 p.m. The posted camping rates are:

People with disabilities
For the reduced vehicle-permit rate, KDWP says a special license plate or placard issued under state law must be displayed. This is a reduced-rate pathway, not a general free-entry waiver. A separate annual handicapped persons special motor vehicle permit may be issued on request to a Kansas resident with a permanent handicapped identification placard or wheelchair license plate for a vehicle titled to that resident, under KDWP state park regulations.
