Its ticket-office policy says tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable and sales are final. It allows for unusual circumstances to be considered, but a refund request requires approval from the Director of Ticket Operations. Start by checking who sold your ticket and what happened, then contact the seller or Kansas Athletics about your specific purchase.
Does a player being out qualify for a Kansas football ticket refund?
Not under an express exception in the Kansas Athletics Ticket Office: Policies page. The policy states: “All tickets ordered from the Kansas Athletic Ticket Office are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. All sales are final.” It also says refunds or exchanges will not be made because a game’s time or date changes. The listed terms do not say that a player’s absence qualifies.

The policy does leave room for unusual circumstances to warrant a deviation. That is discretionary, not a promise that a roster change will qualify: refund requests require approval by the Director of Ticket Operations. Ask about your individual transaction rather than assuming the absence creates an entitlement.

What to check before you ask
Who sold the ticket?
If you bought directly from Kansas Athletics, its ticket-office policy is the starting point. If you bought through a resale marketplace or from another person, check the terms and support process for that seller as well. Kansas Athletics’ Season Ticket Policies warn that tickets acquired from other sources may be lost, stolen, or counterfeit and may not be honored. Those terms do not establish the refund rules of a particular resale service or private seller.

What caused the change?
Be precise about whether the issue is a player being unavailable, a game date or time changing, or an action by Kansas Athletics affecting the ticket. The ticket-office policy excludes a date or time change as a refund or exchange reason. Season-ticket terms separately address Kansas Athletics’ authority to revoke tickets and the treatment of tickets in those situations. An issuer-initiated revocation is different from a buyer asking for a refund because a player is out.
What kind of ticket did you buy?
Have your single-game ticket or season-ticket account details available. The published materials distinguish season-ticket terms from the general ticket-office policy, but they do not promise a different result for a player absence based on ticket type. Ask the issuer to apply the terms to your exact purchase.

How to make a request
- Gather the transaction details. Have the order number, game, seat or ticket information, purchase date, and seller ready. For a third-party purchase, keep the marketplace or seller’s receipt and transaction correspondence.
- Contact the seller that handled the transaction. For a ticket bought from Kansas Athletics, call its ticket office and explain whether you are asking about a refund or exchange and why. For a resale purchase, ask the resale seller what its own terms allow.
- Ask whether an exception can be reviewed. If you bought from Kansas Athletics, ask whether your circumstances can be submitted under the unusual-circumstances provision and whether the Director of Ticket Operations must approve the request.
- Confirm the process and outcome in writing. Ask what documentation is needed, whether any deadline applies to your transaction, and how you will receive the decision. The published policy does not specify a player-absence procedure or promise a particular response time.
