Its main trade-offs are the lack of optical zoom and lens shift, imperfect automatic picture fitting, and a price that only makes sense if you need the extra brightness and placement flexibility. It is most compelling for a room where those advantages matter; it is less compelling if precise placement, accurate picture modes, low-latency gaming, or strong built-in audio are priorities.
What the N1S Ultimate offers
JMGO describes the N1S Ultimate as a 4K triple-laser projector using its MALC 2.0 engine. The company’s US product page lists 3300 ISO lumens, Google TV 3.0, certified native Netflix, 20W audio, and a gimbal rated for 360° horizontal and 135° vertical rotation. These are manufacturer specifications and claims, not guarantees of the same result in every room. JMGO’s US product page

Its defining practical feature is the built-in gimbal: you can point the projector in different directions without relying on a conventional fixed stand. That makes it useful when a normal projector position is inconvenient, but it does not give the lens the optical adjustment range of a projector with lens shift or zoom.

Picture quality and brightness: keep the figures in context
Brightness figures for this model vary by source, unit, and test mode; they should not be treated as interchangeable. JMGO currently advertises 3300 ISO lumens, while a ProjectorCentral-hosted specification sheet lists 3500 ANSI lumens. Those labels describe different measurement standards, and the sheet’s publication date is not established here. ProjectorCentral-hosted specification sheet

In its May 2025 review, Tom’s Guide measured 2,538 lumens in its test and 3,340 lumens in an ultra-bright mode. The publication observed a green cast in that brighter mode. These are Tom’s Guide results under its review conditions, not a universal brightness figure. Tom’s Guide review
JMGO’s specification sheet claims 110% BT.2020. By contrast, Tom’s Guide reported measuring 97% DCI-P3 and 94% Rec. 2020 coverage in its setup. RTINGS cautions that it found proper Rec. 2020 only in Vivid picture mode. A claimed gamut area and measured color coverage are different kinds of figures, so these numbers do not establish that every mode delivers the same color performance. RTINGS review
RTINGS also notes limitations in out-of-box accuracy. If faithful color matters more than maximum punch, expect to choose picture modes carefully rather than assume the most vivid setting is the most accurate.

Placement, screen size, and setup
RTINGS lists a 1.2:1 throw ratio and an image-size range of 40 to 300 inches. It also reports that the projector has no optical zoom or lens shift. Before buying, check that the projector can sit at the required distance from your screen and that its fixed optical geometry suits the room; the gimbal changes aim, not the underlying throw ratio. RTINGS review
JMGO markets FlexiSmart automatic corrections, but Tom’s Guide found automatic fitting and focus imperfect. Digital keystone and similar corrections can make an image fit a surface when the projector is off-axis, but they reduce the active image pixels. For the cleanest result, position the projector as squarely as the room allows and use digital correction only as needed. Tom’s Guide review
JMGO offers bundles that include a 100-inch portable screen, a floor stand, or a ceiling mount. These are optional purchase configurations, not requirements for using the projector. JMGO’s US product page

Mounting caveat
Do not assume a generic screw hole or mount will fit. JMGO support says there is no universal screw hole and refers users to a dedicated suspension bracket when the base is detached. Check the bracket and bundle details for your exact installation before ordering mounting hardware. JMGO support
Streaming, ports, and external audio
Google TV 3.0 and certified native Netflix mean a streaming stick is not essential for ordinary app-based viewing, according to JMGO. RTINGS lists Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, USB-A, and two HDMI 2.1 ports, one of which supports eARC. JMGO’s US product page RTINGS review
You can connect a compatible streaming stick, including devices such as Fire TV Stick, Roku, or Apple TV, over HDMI; JMGO support specifies using a compatible 4K-capable cable. The same support page identifies 3.5 mm, HDMI eARC, and Bluetooth as audio-output routes. JMGO support

Gaming: usable casually, not especially low-lag
Tom’s Guide measured input lag of 144 ms without game mode and 47 ms with game mode. Those are that publication’s measurements; the lower result makes casual play more practical, but latency-sensitive players may find it limiting. No high-refresh-rate performance claim is established by these sources. Tom’s Guide review
Built-in sound and HDR format notes
JMGO markets 20W sound and a 45Hz low-frequency claim. Tom’s Guide describes a pair of 10W speakers as modest for the size of the projected image and reports weak reproduction at the claimed low-frequency range in its listening experience. For fuller sound, use an external speaker or soundbar through the projector’s 3.5 mm, HDMI eARC, or Bluetooth audio output. Tom’s Guide review JMGO support
HDR-format listings conflict: RTINGS says support is limited to HDR10, while Tom’s Guide’s specification table lists HDR10 and HLG. Confirm the formats supported by the exact regional model and firmware if HLG compatibility matters. These sources do not establish Dolby Vision support. RTINGS review Tom’s Guide review
How it compares with the N1S Ultra and Pro
RTINGS lists the N1S Ultimate at 3300 lumens, the N1S Ultra at 2800, and the N1S Pro 4K at 2250. That places the Ultimate at the top of this family on the cited brightness specifications, but it does not by itself establish which is the best value: current prices and promotions differ by region and seller. RTINGS review
Choose by room and priorities, not brightness alone. If the Ultra or Pro costs substantially less where you live and its listed brightness is sufficient for your screen and ambient light, the Ultimate’s premium may be hard to justify. If you need the family’s highest listed brightness and will make use of the gimbal’s aiming flexibility, the Ultimate is the model to consider. Check the live listing for your region: at the time reflected in the product pages, JMGO’s US page showed $1,499 against a crossed-out $2,799, while its EU page showed €1,420 against €2,899. These are regional promotional snapshots, not stable prices; Tom’s Guide’s May 2025 review refers to a $2,799 launch price and a later observed price of $1,999. Quick Recap
Who should buy the JMGO N1S Ultimate?
- Good fit: You want a bright 4K triple-laser projector, built-in streaming, and a gimbal that can point the image where a conventional placement would be awkward.
- Consider another setup: You need optical zoom or lens shift to fit a fixed room layout, accurate color without mode compromises, lower gaming latency, or stronger built-in speakers.
- Before ordering: Verify the current price in your region, measure the throw distance, confirm screen and mount fit, and decide whether an external audio system is part of your budget.
