Dexerto reports that the Jersey Hitmen suspended parents and children connected to its 10U team from practices and games after four mothers wore custom letterman jackets featuring team branding. The report says the club’s owner linked reinstatement to restitution, including a reported 15% royalty demand. The contract terms, total amount sought and current status of the suspensions have not been established.

In a report published Oct. 6, 2026, Michael Gwilliam of Dexerto described a dispute involving families connected to the Jersey Hitmen 10U youth hockey team, which plays out of Ice Vault Arena in Wayne, New Jersey.

According to Dexerto, four mothers wore custom letterman jackets in an Instagram photo posted Sept. 20, 2026. The report says the photo was later deleted. Dexerto characterized the team branding on the jackets as allegedly unauthorized and reported that families were directed to purchase apparel through the team store.

What the owner reportedly said
Dextero quoted excerpts from an email attributed to Jersey Hitmen owner Bobby Reiss. In it, Reiss reportedly wrote: “I cannot permit or tolerate these actions. Therefore, the parents on this team and their children are suspended until restitution is made to our organization.”

Dexerto also quoted Reiss describing the alleged conduct as “one of the most egregious violations in recent memory” of a policy in the organization’s contracts. He reportedly added: “I don’t relish taking it out on the players, but I cannot see any other way to deal with this in the immediate time.” These are reported excerpts from an email; the email itself has not been independently reviewed here.
What is known about the reported royalty demand
Dexerto reported that the demand included a 15% royalty. That is a figure reported in connection with the dispute, not an independently verified royalty term or confirmed payment. The report does not establish the total amount sought.
