Jeonbuk Bank has reportedly launched a Korean-won loan for corporate customers secured by Bitcoin, with proceeds limited to business operating funds. The product is not reported as a personal loan. Edaily described it as South Korea’s first bank-issued won loan linked to a digital asset; that first-in-country claim is Edaily’s, not a regulator’s designation.
Who can borrow, and what is the loan for?
The reported launch is for corporate customers borrowing working capital for business operations. Neither Edaily nor Aju Economy reports that individuals can apply. The reports do not disclose the application process, minimum or maximum loan size, interest rate, fees, or maturity.

How does the Bitcoin collateral structure work?
Third-party custody
Edaily reports that a specialist custody and management provider holds the Bitcoin. Jeonbuk Bank is not said to own or directly manage the asset, and the reports do not identify the custodian.
Valuation and risk controls
According to Edaily, the bank’s valuation uses a weighted-average price index drawing on multiple global exchanges, alongside a market-volatility measure. Edaily also reports that the bank conducted internal stress testing. Neither the valuation formula nor stress-test outcomes are published, and the reports give no collateral haircut or loan-to-value limit.

What happens if a borrower defaults?
Edaily describes a recovery structure in which the bank does not directly take the Bitcoin upon default; instead, court sale or enforcement procedures convert the collateral to cash for recovery. The reviewed legal search did not independently establish that specific procedure, so this is Edaily’s account of the product—not general legal advice or a confirmed description of every Bitcoin-secured loan.
What has the bank said about regulation?
Aju Economy reported an unnamed Jeonbuk Bank representative saying the loan was handled within ordinary bank lending business and did not receive a separate designation as an innovative financial service, sometimes described as a regulatory sandbox designation. That is the bank representative’s reported position, not a regulator’s decision. No product-specific regulator determination was identified in the reviewed reporting.

Could the product expand beyond Bitcoin?
Edaily reports that Jeonbuk Bank may consider expansion in response to regulatory changes and market demand. That describes a future possibility only: Bitcoin is the sole collateral type reported at launch, and no broader offer is established.
