For a JBL speaker that can handle a tailgate or a home game-day party, start with the PartyBox 110, 310, and 520. JBL lists the 110 as rechargeable and portable, while the 310 and 520 add wheels and a telescopic handle. Their manufacturer-stated maximum playtimes range from 12 to 18 hours, but those are not guaranteed runtimes. JBL’s product pages describe splash protection and connection options; they do not establish that one model sounds better than another in a crowded party.
Which JBL PartyBox fits your game-day setup?
Choose based on how far you need to carry the speaker, how long you expect to play music, and whether you need to link speakers or connect a microphone or instrument.

For a simpler carry: PartyBox 110
JBL describes the 110 as rechargeable and portable, making it the straightforward option among these three if you prefer not to manage a wheeled unit. It weighs 23 lb and is listed at 160 W output on JBL’s product page. Those specifications do not prove how well it will cover a particular space; audience size, layout, and background noise all affect perceived coverage.

For wheeled transport: PartyBox 310 or 520
The 310 and 520 have wheels and telescopic handles, which can help when moving a larger speaker from a vehicle to a party area. Consider the route, storage space, and lifting required at either end; wheels do not remove the need to transport the unit in a vehicle or carry it over stairs and uneven ground.
JBL lists the 310 at 38.4 lb and 240 W output. The supplied product specifications give no comparable weight or output figure for the 520, so a direct size or power comparison between those two is not established here. Wattage alone is not a sound-quality ranking.

Plan around battery claims, not guarantees
JBL’s listed maximums are up to 12 hours for the 110, 18 hours for the 310, and 15 hours for the 520. They are useful for comparing the manufacturer’s stated limits, but not promises that a speaker will last that long in your setup. If the gathering may run long, plan for the actual conditions and check the product’s charging requirements rather than assuming the maximum will hold at high volume or with lighting in use.

JBL describes these models as IPX4 splashproof or splash proof. That supports describing them as resistant to splashes; it does not mean they are waterproof, safe to submerge, or suitable to leave exposed to heavy rain. For an outdoor tailgate, keep the speaker away from standing water and protect it from sustained weather exposure.

Match speaker linking and inputs to the party
Linking speakers
The 110 page specifies cable or TWS pairing. JBL says the 310 can use TWS with up to two compatible PartyBox speakers or a wired connection; the 520 page describes Auracast. These methods are not interchangeable by assumption. Confirm that the exact models support the same connection method before buying or setting up a multi-speaker arrangement.
Microphones, instruments, and announcements
The 110 has microphone and guitar inputs, while the 520 lists two XLR inputs. Those connections can matter for karaoke, announcements, or live music. For a playlist-only party, they may not affect your choice.
Rank #4
- Superior JBL Pro Sound: We’re cranking out 800 watts of JBL Pro Sound—loud, clean, and full of deep bass from those two massive 9” woofers. The tweeters keep the highs crisp and clear, so every track hits just right and the dance floor stays packed.
- Futuristic lightshow: Mix all that epic sound with a lightshow to match—vibrant stars, flowing trails, and strobes that move with the beat. It’s a full-on vibe.
- Up to 15 hours playtime: Keep the music going for up to 15 hours on a single charge. Need more juice? Swap in the backup batteries (sold separately) and keep it moving. Just need a quick boost? A 10-minute fast charge gets you up to 2 extra hours of playtime.
- Ergonomic integrated handle and wider sturdy wheels: Taking the party outside just got easier—wider wheels roll smooth on rough ground, and the built-in handle makes it easy to grab and go.
- IPX4 Splash proof: Whether we’re hanging in the park or chilling by the pool, the PartyBox 720 is IPX4 splash proof—so a little water is no big deal.
What the specifications cannot tell you about sound
The cited JBL product pages provide manufacturer specifications, not independent listening tests or measured coverage comparisons for a living room, stadium parking lot, or crowded party. They therefore do not support calling one of these models objectively better-sounding or “top-tier” against competitors. Choose using the practical features above, and treat venue coverage as something the listed wattage and battery figures alone cannot settle.
