Yes. JBL says all four Cinema SB MK2 soundbars support its SurroundPlay feature, which lets you connect a pair of JBL Flip 7 portable speakers wirelessly and use them as rear channels. JBL named the Flip 7 as compatible at launch; its announcement does not confirm support for other portable-speaker models.
How the portable-speaker pairing works
SurroundPlay lets a compatible Cinema SB MK2 soundbar use two Flip 7 speakers as wireless rear channels. That gives buyers a way to add rear speakers using a pair of portable speakers, rather than relying only on the soundbar and its front-channel setup.

JBL announced the feature on September 28, 2026. The announcement establishes JBL’s compatibility claim, but it does not provide setup steps, connection-range details, or independent measurements of surround performance. It also does not establish that the Flip 7 arrangement sounds equivalent to dedicated rear speakers.

Which Cinema SB MK2 models support it?
JBL says SurroundPlay is available across all four announced models. The models differ in channel layout, Dolby support, subwoofer configuration, and HDMI connections:

JBL lists a dedicated centre channel on every model, as well as Bluetooth and Auracast across the series. The SB595MK2 is the only listed 3.1.2 model and the only one with up-firing drivers. The SB580MK2 also supports Dolby Atmos, but is listed as 3.1.
What to consider when choosing a model
- Want up-firing drivers? The SB595MK2 is the sole model listed with two up-firing drivers.
- Need HDMI eARC or HDMI input? JBL lists both HDMI-IN and eARC on the SB595MK2 and SB580MK2; the SB550MK2 and SB510MK2 are listed with HDMI ARC.
- Prefer a separate subwoofer? The SB595MK2 and SB580MK2 have wireless 6.5-inch subwoofers, while the SB550MK2 has a wireless 5.25-inch subwoofer. The SB510MK2 instead has a built-in subwoofer.
- Already own Flip 7 speakers? A pair is the portable-speaker option JBL identifies for SurroundPlay at launch. JBL’s announcement does not establish compatibility for other models.
Availability
JBL announced that the Cinema SB MK2 series would be available in select markets from October 1, 2026, at JBL.com. The announcement does not list every launch market or confirm current stock in any particular region, so availability must be checked with JBL or local retailers.
