JBL’s official US listing showed it at $349.95 versus a $499.95 reference price (30% off), although the item was sold out when checked. That makes the discount worth watching, not a price you should assume is available today.
What you get with the JBL Boombox 3
The Boombox 3 uses a three-way design: a dedicated subwoofer, midrange drivers and a tweeter. JBL describes the result as deeper bass and powerful sound from a portable enclosure. Its published dynamic frequency response is 40 Hz–20 kHz.

“Portable” is relative here. The speaker has a built-in handle, but it weighs 6.7 kg (14.7 lb) and measures 48.2 × 25.7 × 20.0 cm. It is practical to carry between a home, garden or campsite, but it is substantially larger than a compact travel speaker.

How long does the battery last?
JBL rates the Boombox 3 for up to 24 hours of music playback. “Up to” is important: actual runtime varies with volume, content, wireless conditions and other operating factors. High-volume playback, especially bass-heavy music, can reduce the time between charges.
For long outdoor sessions, the rating is best understood as a maximum under favorable conditions rather than a guaranteed 24-hour result for every use case.
Is it waterproof?
Yes. The Boombox 3 carries an IP67 rating, meaning it is designed to resist dust and temporary immersion in water under the conditions defined by that rating. JBL’s product description says you can bring it “anywhere, rain or shine.”

IP67 does not make the speaker indestructible. Keep charging connections closed as designed, avoid using damaged units around water, and follow JBL’s care guidance after exposure to moisture. Water resistance also does not protect against drops, impact or gradual wear to seals.
What was the lower price?
JBL’s official US listing displayed $349.95 against a $499.95 reference price, presented as 30% off. The listing was marked sold out when crawled, so the deal is time-sensitive and may disappear or return at a different price.
Before buying, check both JBL’s store and major retailers for current stock, seller identity, shipping charges and warranty terms. Do not assume that a search result showing the former sale price represents an available unit.

Wireless features and multi-speaker use
Bluetooth 5.3 handles the phone, tablet or other source connection. The Boombox 3 also works with JBL’s Portable app ecosystem, which is used for supported speaker controls and updates.
PartyBoost lets you pair compatible JBL speakers for a larger setup. Compatibility matters: PartyBoost is not a universal multi-speaker standard, so confirm that the other speaker supports PartyBoost before planning a linked system. Pairing several speakers can also increase setup complexity and power consumption.

It is a weaker fit if you need something light for daily commuting, a speaker that fits in a small bag, or a verified deal you can purchase immediately. Its 6.7 kg weight and nearly half-meter width are central buying considerations, not minor details.
How to compare it with newer party speakers
Do not choose on the word “newer” alone. Compare the published figures that affect your use:
- Portability: check weight, dimensions and whether the handle is comfortable for the distance you will carry it.
- Runtime: compare each maker’s maximum rating and note whether the figure is tied to a particular volume or power mode.
- Protection: look for an IP dust-and-water rating rather than a vague claim of weather resistance.
- Sound hardware: identify whether the design is two-way or three-way and whether output figures are quoted for AC or battery operation.
- Wireless ecosystem: verify Bluetooth version, app support and the exact multi-speaker pairing standard.
- Price and stock: compare an available, current price—not an expired or sold-out promotion.
Published specifications can establish features and limits, but they do not prove that one speaker sounds better than another. No authoritative comparative listening test is established here, so treat subjective superiority claims cautiously.
Bottom line for buyers
The JBL Boombox 3 combines a three-way speaker system, up to 24 hours of claimed playback, Bluetooth 5.3 and IP67 protection in a 6.7 kg enclosure. The observed $349.95 US price was meaningfully below the $499.95 reference price, but the official listing was sold out. Buy it when the current price, stock and warranty suit you—not simply because an old sale badge appears in search results.
