But a new teammate’s account of Maxey communicating, leading vocally and helping others feel welcome adds meaningful evidence to the case that Maxey should be the 76ers’ primary voice and offensive engine.
What Jaylen Brown said about Maxey
Brown arrived in Philadelphia in a July 6, 2026 trade from Boston, making his perspective relevant as the 76ers integrate a major roster addition. The team’s announcement established the roster move; it did not establish a leadership hierarchy.

During training camp, Brown praised Maxey’s communication and attention to teammates. The Sixer Sense reported Brown saying, “Tyrese has been a great communicator. He’s been leading with his voice early on.” Brown also said, “He’s been the most vocal. He’s been the one making sure everybody is accommodated.” The Sixer Sense’s account gives those remarks a clear scope: Brown was describing what he had seen early in camp.

Brown said, “He’s been a great host,” and added, “He’s trying to make me feel comfortable, even if I don’t need it, but I appreciate it.” Hine’s report describes a concrete act of welcoming a new teammate, not a formal endorsement of Maxey as the team’s sole leader.

Why the praise matters in Philadelphia
Welcoming a newcomer may sound small beside scoring or awards, but it is a visible form of leadership at a moment when teammates are learning roles and building trust. Brown is an established star joining the roster, not a junior player whose praise is merely routine deference. His account suggests Maxey is taking responsibility for the group’s day-to-day connection as well as his work on the court.
That does not prove Maxey is the only voice in the room, or that Brown’s early impression will define the season. It does make the leadership argument more substantial than an assumption based only on Maxey’s age, popularity or highlights: a new teammate says he has seen Maxey communicate, direct and accommodate others.

Maxey has the production and recognition to match the role
Leadership alone would not make someone a franchise face. Maxey’s performance gives the case an on-court foundation. The Sixer Sense reported his 2025–26 averages as 28.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 1.9 steals per game. Those figures make him a high-volume scorer and a creator for teammates, a combination that fits the argument for making him Philadelphia’s central offensive engine.

The page also documents his prior All-Star recognition and Most Improved Player award. These honors reinforce that he is already an established star rather than merely a prospect being asked to grow into prominence.

Earlier numbers provide context, not a replacement for the reported 2025–26 line: the official profile lists 26.3 points and 6.1 assists per game for 2024–25, and 25.9 points, 3.7 rebounds and 6.2 assists for 2023–24, when he won Most Improved Player. The progression supports the idea of sustained offensive importance, while the recent All-NBA selection and All-Star starting status mark his current standing.
What “face of the franchise” should mean
The phrase can mean several different things, and the available evidence is stronger on some than others:

- SCREEN PRINT GRAPHICS: wear your favorite NBA team colors in style with high-quality graphics.
- Locker-room and communication leadership: Brown’s camp comments directly support Maxey as a prominent communicator and welcoming presence. They do not establish a captaincy or a season-long verdict.
- Offensive responsibility: Maxey’s reported scoring and assist averages support treating him as a primary option and playmaker.
- Current production and honors: His All-Star starter status and first All-NBA selection make his star standing official, while the 2025–26 statistics cited above are attributed to The Sixer Sense.
- Public identity and tenure: Maxey’s association with Philadelphia matters to the franchise-face argument, but these sources do not settle comparisons with every other Sixers star or prove that every dimension of the team’s identity belongs to him.
On the evidence available, “face” is best understood as the player Philadelphia should center publicly and offensively—not a claim that he outranks every teammate in every leadership role. Brown’s praise strengthens that case because it connects Maxey’s production to the less visible work of bringing teammates along.

Should Maxey be Philadelphia’s floor general and primary option?
The case is persuasive, with an important distinction: the evidence supports making Maxey a primary voice and offensive centerpiece, but it does not prove that he must be the team’s only floor general or its unquestioned authority. Brown’s remarks concern early training-camp behavior; the honors and statistics show Maxey’s individual standing, not the full distribution of responsibility across the roster.

Still, when a star-level scorer and creator is also the teammate a newcomer identifies as the most vocal and accommodating, the fit between role and leadership is unusually clear. Brown’s comments should not decide the hierarchy by themselves. They should strengthen the argument that Maxey is ready to be the 76ers’ defining player.
