Short answer: Choose the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 if you will carry the station often or want the lighter setup. Choose the BLUETTI AC180 if your appliances need more continuous AC power or you want the higher solar-input ceiling. Jackery lists the Explorer 1000 v2 at about 23.8 lb, 1,500 W continuous output and 400 W maximum solar input; BLUETTI lists the AC180 at 35.3 lb, 1,800 W continuous output and 500 W maximum solar input.

This is a model-to-model decision, not a verdict on either brand as a whole. Both companies sell power stations with different capacities, inverters, ports and regional configurations. The comparisons and recommendations below apply specifically to the US versions of the Explorer 1000 v2 and AC180 documented in the cited manufacturer pages, accessed in 2026.

Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 vs. BLUETTI AC180 at a glance

Decision factor Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 BLUETTI AC180 What it means
Rated capacity 1,070 Wh 1,152 Wh Both are in the roughly 1 kWh class. The small difference does not predict an identical runtime.
Continuous AC output 1,500 W rated 1,800 W total The AC180 has the higher listed limit for loads running continuously.
Surge or peak output 3,000 W peak listed by Jackery 2,700 W reported by an independent comparison The figures are not source-symmetric. Verify the exact startup-load specification in the manual.
Maximum solar input 400 W 500 W The AC180 accepts a higher maximum input, but neither figure guarantees a charging rate.
Weight About 23.8 lb 35.3 lb The Explorer 1000 v2 is about 11.5 lb lighter according to the listed figures.
Battery chemistry LiFePO4 LiFePO4 Both use lithium-iron-phosphate cells.
Published cycle-life statement 4,000 cycles to 70% or more capacity 3,500+ cycles to 80% of original capacity The retention thresholds differ, so the raw cycle counts are not an apples-to-apples durability ranking.
Warranty shown on reviewed US pages 3+2 years listed 5 years listed Confirm regional, seller, registration and configuration terms before relying on the duration.
UPS switchover evidence Jackery FAQ says within 20 ms in UPS setup No directly matched switching figure was found on the reviewed AC180 page Do not assume identical behavior for sensitive equipment.

The specifications come from Jackery’s US Explorer 1000 v2 product page and FAQ, BLUETTI’s US AC180 product page and listing, and an independent model comparison for the AC180 peak figure. They are published specifications, not results from a matched laboratory test.

Which one should you buy?

Choose the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 when portability is the deciding factor

  • You will move the station between a car, campsite, workshop and house regularly.
  • Your expected appliances stay below 1,500 W while running, with startup demands inside the model’s limits.
  • You value a lighter unit more than the AC180’s extra inverter headroom.
  • You want a configuration sold with a SolarSaga 200 W panel, provided the panel and station connectors suit your setup.
  • The local price, included cables and warranty terms are better for your location.

An 11.5 lb difference is large enough to change how you use a power station. A unit that is easy to lift is more likely to be taken on short trips, moved away from weather, or brought indoors during an outage. The Explorer 1000 v2 still has enough nominal capacity for many everyday loads, but its 1,500 W rating sets a lower ceiling for high-draw appliances.

Choose the BLUETTI AC180 when output and solar headroom matter more

  • You need the listed 1,800 W continuous AC output for equipment whose normal draw is above what a 1,500 W inverter can comfortably support.
  • You expect to use solar and can benefit from a 500 W maximum input rather than 400 W.
  • You can handle a 35.3 lb station without it becoming a storage or transport problem.
  • The AC180’s US port layout, included cables and local warranty match your equipment.
  • You have checked the running and startup requirements of every motor, compressor, pump or heating appliance you plan to connect.

The AC180’s advantage is electrical headroom, not a dramatic capacity difference. Its 1,152 Wh rating is only modestly higher than the Explorer 1000 v2’s 1,070 Wh. If your loads fit comfortably below 1,500 W, the extra inverter rating may not justify carrying the heavier unit.

Match the inverter to your appliances

Continuous wattage is the number to use first

Continuous output describes what the inverter can supply while an appliance is operating normally. Compare that figure with the appliance’s running wattage, not just the number printed on its marketing page. A coffee maker, hair dryer or space heater may draw close to its nameplate rating. A refrigerator, pump, compressor or power tool can have a lower running draw but demand a much larger burst when its motor starts.

The Explorer 1000 v2 is listed at 1,500 W rated AC output, while the AC180 is listed at 1,800 W total AC output. Those are limits, not recommended targets. Leave margin for measurement error, changing duty cycles and other devices connected at the same time.

Surge ratings need model-specific confirmation

Jackery lists a 3,000 W peak for the Explorer 1000 v2. The independent comparison reviewed for this article reports a 2,700 W peak for the AC180, but that figure is not presented in the same type of manufacturer specification. Because the sources and test definitions are not identical, do not treat the two numbers as a controlled contest.

Before buying, find the exact manual for your regional model and compare its startup requirement with the station’s surge specification. If an appliance repeatedly trips the inverter, reduce the connected load, allow the appliance to start alone, or use a station designed with more startup capacity. A peak number is never permission to run an appliance continuously at that wattage.

Can either station run an air conditioner or microwave?

Possibly, but the appliance’s actual running and startup draw decides the answer. A small microwave may operate within either station’s continuous rating, while a larger model can approach or exceed it. Portable air conditioners often have compressor startup demands that are much higher than their running wattage. Check the nameplate, manufacturer manual or a plug-in power meter, then compare both the running and starting requirements with the exact station limits. Capacity in watt-hours tells you how long energy may last; it does not make an inverter capable of a higher wattage.

Capacity, runtime and the question “How many hours will my device run?”

The Explorer 1000 v2 is rated at 1,070 Wh and the AC180 at 1,152 Wh. Those are nominal battery-energy figures. They are not promises that an AC load will receive every watt-hour. Conversion through the AC inverter, the device’s own power supply, display and control electronics, temperature and the station’s usable-energy limits all affect delivered runtime.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For a rough planning calculation, divide the station’s nominal watt-hours by the device’s average watt draw, then treat the result as an upper-bound estimate rather than a guarantee. A device that averages 100 W would produce a simple ratio of about 10.7 hours from 1,070 Wh or 11.5 hours from 1,152 Wh before conversion losses. Actual AC runtime will be lower and can vary substantially when the device cycles on and off. Use a measured average load when the decision matters, and account for other devices connected at the same time.

Duty cycle is especially important. A refrigerator may draw power intermittently, while a heater can run continuously. A laptop’s charger may be rated for more watts than the computer consumes after its battery is full. Estimate from the average draw over the period you need, not from the highest number on a charger.

Solar charging: higher input is not guaranteed harvest

Maximum input ratings

Jackery lists a 400 W maximum solar input for the Explorer 1000 v2. BLUETTI lists 500 W for the AC180. The higher AC180 ceiling can shorten charging time when you have enough compatible panel capacity and strong sun, but it does not ensure that result. Panel output changes with sunlight intensity, angle, shading, temperature, cable resistance and the electrical limits of the station.

Explorer 1000 v2 panel-connection rules

Jackery’s Explorer 1000 V2 Basic Information FAQ says the two DC inputs are parallel. It says not to mix different panel wattages simultaneously, not to connect three panels, and to use identical panels in the specified configuration when four panels are connected. Follow the voltage, current and connector limits in that FAQ and the current manual rather than combining panels by guesswork.

A SolarSaga 200 W bundle can be relevant if you want a ready-made solar package, but two 200 W panels do not mean the station will accept more than its 400 W ceiling. Check that the exact panel model, adapter and connector are approved for the station. Do not assume a panel’s advertised wattage is what it will produce in ordinary weather.

Planning a solar setup for either model

  1. Identify the station’s maximum solar voltage, current and wattage for your region and exact revision.
  2. Choose panels whose electrical output stays within those limits under open-circuit and operating conditions.
  3. Check connector polarity and the cable or adapter supplied with the station.
  4. Place panels in full sun, avoid partial shade across a single panel, and angle them for the season and location.
  5. Watch the station’s input display during the day; use the observed range, not the panel label, for planning.

Solar input is useful for extending an outage or campsite stay, but it cannot compensate for an inverter that is undersized for the appliance you want to run.

Battery chemistry and cycle-life claims

Both stations use LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) batteries. That chemistry is valued for its thermal stability and long service potential, but a cycle-life headline must include its test endpoint.

Jackery states 4,000 cycles to 70% or more capacity for the Explorer 1000 v2. BLUETTI states 3,500 or more cycles to 80% of original capacity for the AC180. Reaching 70% and reaching 80% are different endpoints, so those counts cannot establish that one battery will definitely outlast the other. Temperature, depth of discharge, charging habits, storage state and calendar age also influence real-world aging.

Jackery’s product page uses the statement, “Long-lasting LiFePO₄ cells ensure 10+ years (4,000 charge cycles) backed up by a 5-year warranty.” That is Jackery’s marketing claim, not an independently validated life-expectancy result. Treat the cycle figure as a manufacturer specification with its stated 70% threshold.

UPS and outage use

Jackery’s Explorer 1000 V2 Basic Information FAQ describes battery switchover within 20 ms when the station is configured for UPS use. That gives a concrete figure for the Jackery setup reviewed here. The BLUETTI AC180 product page reviewed for this comparison does not provide a directly matched switching time, so it would be inaccurate to claim that both stations offer identical backup behavior.

If you intend to protect a desktop computer, network storage, medical device or other sensitive load, confirm the exact UPS mode, transfer behavior, permissible load and grounding guidance in the current manual. Test the complete setup with the equipment connected before trusting it during an outage. A portable power station is not automatically equivalent to a dedicated, certified UPS for every application.

Weight, ports and regional configuration

Jackery’s listed weight of about 23.8 lb makes the Explorer 1000 v2 easier to carry one-handed or load into a vehicle. BLUETTI lists the AC180 at 35.3 lb. Consider where the station will live, whether stairs are involved and how often you will lift it. If it will remain beside a transfer switch or refrigerator, the weight difference may matter less than output and cable layout.

The reviewed BLUETTI US listing specifies four 120 V outlets. International versions can use different outlet counts or voltages. Do not buy from a listing that does not clearly identify your country’s version, and do not use a US outlet specification to plan an installation elsewhere. Confirm DC, USB and AC port types, maximum output per port and included cables for the exact configuration.

Warranty, price and bundle checks

The Jackery product page reviewed in 2026 displayed a 3+2-year warranty arrangement, while BLUETTI listed a 5-year warranty for the AC180. The practical coverage depends on region, seller, registration requirements and the specific configuration. Read the terms that apply to your invoice rather than assuming every marketplace listing carries the same coverage.

At the time of access, the BLUETTI US listing displayed $499. Jackery showed different prices for the standalone Explorer 1000 v2 and solar-bundle configurations. These are time-sensitive snapshots, not permanent prices. Before ordering, verify the current price, whether a panel or car cable is included, shipping restrictions, return period and warranty provider.

A decision process that avoids the common mistakes

  1. List every planned load. Write down running watts, startup watts where applicable, AC or DC connection type and the number of devices that may run together.
  2. Set the inverter minimum. Choose a station whose continuous rating exceeds the combined running load and whose surge specification covers motor or compressor startup.
  3. Estimate energy needs. Convert each device’s average watt draw and expected hours of use into watt-hours. Add a margin for inverter losses and changing duty cycles.
  4. Decide how often you will carry it. If the answer is often, give the 11.5 lb listed weight difference substantial weight in the decision.
  5. Check solar compatibility. Compare panel voltage, current, connector and wattage with the station’s input limits. Do not select panels solely by their headline wattage.
  6. Verify the local model. Confirm voltage, outlets, warranty and included accessories for your country and seller.
  7. Test before an emergency. Charge the station, connect the most demanding appliance, observe the input and output displays, and practice the intended UPS or outage procedure.

Common pitfalls and fixes

Assuming watt-hours equal usable AC energy

Problem: A calculation based on the full 1,070 Wh or 1,152 Wh rating predicts more runtime than the outlet delivers.
Fix: Treat the nominal figure as a planning ceiling and validate with the actual load, allowing for conversion losses and duty cycle.

Choosing by peak watts alone

Problem: A motor starts briefly but the station cannot sustain its normal operating load.
Fix: Check continuous watts first, then verify startup requirements against the exact manual.

Overbuilding the solar array

Problem: Panels exceed the station’s voltage, current or input-watt limit, or incompatible panels are mixed.
Fix: Follow the station’s electrical limits and, for the Explorer 1000 v2, the FAQ’s rules on parallel inputs, panel matching and four-panel configurations.

Comparing cycle counts without their endpoints

Problem: “4,000” appears larger than “3,500+,” leading to a claim that Jackery is more durable.
Fix: Keep the thresholds attached: 70% or more for Jackery and 80% for BLUETTI. The figures are not directly comparable.

Buying the wrong regional version

Problem: Outlet voltage, socket type or warranty does not match your location.
Fix: Use the local product page, check the label and invoice, and confirm the return policy before opening the package.

Bottom line: portability or power headroom

For this specific pairing, the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 is the better fit when frequent carrying, a lower listed weight and a clearly documented 20 ms UPS switchover matter most. The BLUETTI AC180 is the stronger choice when you need its 1,800 W continuous AC rating, can use its 500 W solar-input ceiling and are comfortable with a 35.3 lb station. Neither is a universal winner: choose after matching the exact appliances, solar configuration, regional version and warranty terms to your use.
