Cash App’s Bitcoin Bonus is an opt-in promotion that may pay bitcoin based on an eligible balance. It is not an automatic reward for every Cash App bitcoin holder, and Cash App’s general terms do not promise a universal rate or weekly payout schedule. Benzinga, republished by TradingView, reported that the offer can provide weekly rewards of up to 2% annually in BTC and that Block CEO Jack Dorsey posted “turn it on” on September 30, 2026. Those reported details may not apply to every account; the offer and its terms in your app are what matter.
What Dorsey’s “turn it on” post refers to
Dorsey’s short post accompanied Cash App’s announcement of Bitcoin Bonus, according to Benzinga reporting republished by TradingView. It is an endorsement-style prompt, not a detailed explanation of the offer or its risks. The feature itself is governed by Cash App’s terms and by the offer shown to an individual user.
How Bitcoin Bonus works
Cash App’s US Terms of Service, last updated September 11, 2026, describe Bitcoin Bonus as a promotion that users must opt into. If eligible, a user may receive a bitcoin bonus based on an eligible virtual currency balance. Cash App calculates the bonus using a snapshot of that balance when it determines the reward, then pays the bonus in bitcoin. The terms allow Cash App to round, limit, delay, cancel, or forfeit a bonus as disclosed in the app or as Cash App determines.
- Opt-in: Holding bitcoin in Cash App alone does not mean the user is enrolled.
- Balance snapshot: The calculation uses a balance snapshot at the time Cash App determines the bonus, not necessarily a continuously calculated balance.
- Payment: Any bonus is paid in bitcoin; the offer shown in the app governs the amount and timing.
Is the reward really up to 2% and paid weekly?
Benzinga’s report says the feature offers weekly rewards of up to 2% annually in BTC. Cash App’s general Terms of Service establish the promotion’s broad mechanics but do not set that rate or payout cadence as a universal promise. Instead, Cash App says bonus rates, amounts, timing, eligibility, and geographic availability can change. Treat the 2% figure and weekly schedule as reported offer details, not a guaranteed return. Check the offer and its terms in your own Cash App account before opting in.

Can you sell or withdraw bitcoin while enrolled?
Cash App’s terms say participation does not change how virtual currency is held, require a lockup, or prevent a user from selling or withdrawing it. That means the promotion is not described as requiring bitcoin to remain untouched. The specific offer may still use a balance snapshot to calculate a bonus, so review its displayed calculation rules before changing your balance if you want to understand how that could affect the reward.
What to check in the app before opting in
Cash App says users may not all see the same offers, and each offer may have its own requirements. Before enrolling, review the Bitcoin Bonus details displayed for your account:

Taxes and changing program terms
Cash App warns that promotional bonuses may be taxable or subject to tax reporting, and says users are responsible for applicable taxes. That warning does not establish a single tax result for every user; the treatment depends on the relevant circumstances and rules. Cash App’s terms also reserve the ability to change eligibility, rates, amounts, timing, and geographic availability, or to suspend or end the program.

What the announcement does not establish
The available terms and reporting do not establish how many users have enrolled, how much bitcoin has been paid out, or what users have actually earned on average. Nor do the general terms confirm that every account can receive the reported maximum. The clearest account-specific evidence is the offer and requirements Cash App displays to you.
