The original Jabra Elite 10 is a comfortable, feature-rich earbud set for commuting, work and everyday listening, with active noise cancellation, Dolby Atmos head tracking, multipoint and an IP57 rating for the earbuds. Fit is personal, and Jabra’s battery figures are estimates that depend on whether ANC is on. The Elite 10 Gen 2 adds a smart case that can pass wired audio to the earbuds, plus LE Audio; it is a successor, not another name for the original.
What are the Jabra Elite 10?
The original Elite 10 is Jabra’s in-ear, semi-open true-wireless earbud model. Its feature set includes Jabra Advanced ANC, HearThrough, Dolby Atmos with Dolby Head Tracking, six microphones, multipoint Bluetooth, and AAC and SBC codec support. Jabra’s specification sheet lists Bluetooth 5.3. These are manufacturer-listed capabilities; actual feature behavior can vary with the connected phone, software and app.

SoundGuys tested the original over five days using firmware 1.3.7 and Jabra Sound+ app version 5.16.0.0.10128. It also reports a March 2024 software update that improved call quality with AI-based distractor suppression. Firmware and app versions may change, so those observations describe the versions in that review rather than a guarantee about every current setup.

Comfort is one of the original Elite 10’s main strengths, but it depends on your ears and the eartips you choose. Jabra describes the semi-open shape as ComfortFit and supplies four EarGel sizes. SoundGuys found the unusual tip shape comfortable in its review, while warning that tip size affects bass response, isolation and ANC effectiveness.
#1 Best Overall
- Jabra Elite 10 - Titanium Black (X)
Try each supplied size rather than assuming the largest or smallest will work best. A secure seal helps the earbuds deliver their intended bass and passive isolation; if sound seems thin or ANC underwhelming, reseating the earbuds or changing tip size is a sensible first check. Replacement EarGels are listed by Jabra for the Elite 10 and Elite 10 Gen 2.
How good is the noise cancelling and call quality?
The Elite 10 combines Jabra Advanced ANC with six MEMS microphones and HearThrough, which lets outside sound in when you want more awareness. ANC effectiveness depends partly on fit, so a poor seal can make the feature seem weaker. Jabra also lists Dolby Atmos with head tracking; this is a separate spatial-audio feature, not a noise-cancelling mode.
SoundGuys’ account of the March 2024 update says it improved call quality through AI-based suppression of distracting sounds. Treat that as a version-specific reviewer observation, not a promise that all environments or devices produce the same call result.

How long does the battery last?
Jabra’s 2023 technical sheet advertises the following maximums for the original Elite 10. They are manufacturer estimates, not guaranteed runtime; the ANC setting is part of each figure.
Rank #2
- Compatible with Jabra Elite 10 (Elite 10 gen 2) wireless earbuds.
- Replacement ear tips made of soft silicone, safe and non-toxic, no peculiar smell, washable.

| ANC setting | Earbuds | Total with case |
|---|---|---|
| On | Up to 6 hours | Up to 27 hours |
| Off | Up to 8 hours | Up to 36 hours |
Actual playback time can differ with volume, calls, connectivity, feature use and battery condition. The figures should not be compared without checking whether ANC is on and whether the stated total includes the case.
Are Jabra Elite 10 waterproof?
No: the earbuds are IP57-rated, but “waterproof” overstates what that rating means. Jabra’s product sheet specifies IP57 for the earbuds and a two-year dust-and-water warranty when registered through the Jabra Sound+ app. The rating and warranty should not be extended to the charging case.
For more demanding sports use, RTINGS notes that the Jabra Elite 8 Active has an IP68 rating and offers greater dust and water protection than the Elite 10. The Elite 10 is described by RTINGS as sturdy and stable for sports, but that does not make its protection equivalent to the Elite 8 Active’s.
Jabra Elite 10 vs Elite 10 Gen 2: what changed?
The Gen 2 is a distinct successor generation. Its headline addition is a smart case with a USB-C / 3.5 mm cable connection, allowing audio from a wired source to be streamed to the earbuds. Jabra’s Gen 2 sheet also lists LE Audio and LC3, alongside Bluetooth 5.3, ANC, multipoint, six microphones and Dolby Atmos head tracking.

The battery rows are manufacturer estimates from Jabra’s 2023 original Elite 10 and 2024 Gen 2 technical sheets, respectively, and both retain their stated ANC conditions. In a real-music test of the Gen 2, SoundGuys measured 5 hours and 27 minutes of playback; that result is not a controlled test of the original Elite 10.
RTINGS characterizes the Gen 2 as somewhat better overall, with more accurate microphone sound and more consistent wind-noise blocking, and identifies the wired smart case as its most notable difference. It says the original may suit buyers if its slightly longer battery life or lower price is preferable. Prices vary, and no current price comparison is established here.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How does the Elite 10 compare with alternatives?
The best alternative depends on which feature matters most rather than a single overall ranking. RTINGS’ comparisons suggest these practical distinctions:
- Jabra Elite 8 Active: consider it if higher dust and water protection is the priority; its IP68 rating exceeds the Elite 10’s IP57. The Elite 10, in turn, includes Dolby Atmos, and the models have different isolation strengths.
- Sony WF-1000XM5: codec preference and fit may help decide between them. RTINGS notes Sony’s LDAC support and Jabra’s competing strengths in noise isolation and microphones.
- Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds or Apple AirPods Pro 2: RTINGS presents these as alternatives with different noise-isolation, fit, codec and ecosystem tradeoffs. Comparisons can shift with firmware and retail variants.
Who should buy the original Jabra Elite 10?
The original Elite 10 is a strong fit for someone seeking a feature-rich everyday pair who values a comfortable shape, ANC, multipoint and Dolby Atmos head tracking. It is less compelling if you need the Gen 2 smart case’s wired-audio connection, LE Audio, or the greater protection of the Elite 8 Active. Fit and tip selection matter enough that comfort and sound should be judged with the right eartip in place.
