A video may be tied to a different Apple Account, hidden, missing from the computer’s library, out of sync, unavailable in your region, or no longer offered by Apple. The right fix depends on which of those applies.
What changed—and what didn’t
Apple’s services support several distinct ways to access music: a video purchased from the iTunes Store, a video available in a subscription catalog, and media matched or uploaded to a cloud library are not interchangeable. Apple’s provider documentation still identifies music videos as deliverable content, including standalone Music Video Singles, mixed-media albums, and Music Video Albums. That does not mean every older title remains available in every country.

The available evidence does not establish that Apple discontinued all music-video purchases, that every purchased video disappeared when iTunes changed, or that music-video consumption shifted by a particular amount from downloads to streaming. A missing video should be diagnosed as an account, library, sync, catalog, or rights issue rather than assumed to be part of one industry-wide transition.
Check why a specific video is missing
1. Confirm the Apple Account used to buy it
Check that the device is signed in to the Apple Account associated with the purchase. A different account can prevent access to purchased downloads and Sync Library. If you use multiple accounts, verify the purchasing account rather than assuming the account currently signed in is the right one.

2. Look for a hidden purchase
A hidden purchase may not appear normally in your library. Apple lists hidden items among the reasons a song or other library item can appear gray. Review your hidden purchases, unhide the video if needed, and check your purchases again.
3. Find the original file or library location
If you downloaded the video, look on the original Mac or PC and check alternate library locations, external drives, and other storage you may have used. A file can be missing from the app’s expected location without having been removed from the Apple catalog. Apple’s current missing-music guidance explains how to add a downloaded file to Music by dragging it into the app and then updating the cloud library.
4. Check cloud-library status and Sync Library
If Sync Library is enabled, check that it is enabled on the devices where you expect to see the video. On the computer that stores the original library, inspect the item’s cloud status and update the cloud library if appropriate. Do not turn Sync Library off casually: Apple warns that doing so removes downloaded music from devices.

5. Check whether Apple still offers the title in your region
If the item is marked “No Longer Available,” Apple says it may have been removed from the Apple Music catalog. Search for another edition or version if you want to watch the video, but treat that as a possible replacement—not proof that it is the same purchase or that your purchase has been restored. Availability can depend on the Apple Account’s country or region and the title’s current rights.
Apple Music Provider Support identifies inactive country or region agreements and changes to distributor or label clearance as possible reasons a download may not be available. If your purchase record does not match what you can access, contact Apple Support with the title and purchase details.
Redownload a purchase, if it is still available
Use Apple’s current instructions for finding missing or grayed-out music in the Music app and for redownloading purchases on your device. Apple’s older iTunes guide describes the historical purchase-download flow, but its interface labels are not a reliable guide to current menus. Apple also cautions that some content is country-limited and that a prior purchase may not be available for redownload if it is no longer on the Store.

Apple’s terms likewise say that content no longer offered may not be available to download or redownload. A purchase record therefore does not guarantee that Apple will host a downloadable copy indefinitely.
Understand purchases, subscriptions, and cloud libraries
Buying a video and accessing it through a subscription catalog are different arrangements. Apple Support says iTunes purchases remain in your library after an Apple Music subscription ends; subscription-catalog additions and related playlists are removed when the membership ends. A cloud library is another layer: Apple’s terms describe iCloud Music Library as access to matched or uploaded material, not as a guarantee that every item will remain in the Store for redownload.
Apple Support puts the limitation plainly: “Apple Music isn’t a backup service.” Its Media Services terms recommend regularly backing up content and explain that rights changes can make content unavailable.

Preserve videos you can access

Locate the original downloaded media file on the computer or storage where it is kept.

Copy that file to separate storage, such as an external hard drive, and keep the copy independent of your Music library.

Confirm that the backup contains the file before relying on it; a backup preserves an accessible download, not a title you never downloaded.

Keep the purchase record and note which Apple Account and region were used, so you can distinguish a library problem from a catalog or rights restriction.
A separate copy can protect a file you already have, but it cannot repair an account mismatch, restore a sync connection, or make Apple offer a removed video again.
