Can Nintendo Switch owners upgrade for free?

EA says the free offer is unavailable in Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, and that offers may vary or change. Although EA says the game will be sold physically as well as digitally, a physical copy does not by itself establish eligibility: follow the account-based redemption process and check the offer shown in your region.
What changes in the Switch 2 version?
EA describes the Switch 2 edition as offering higher resolution, improved frame rates, and richer visual effects. In its game article, EA specifies 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second in docked mode, plus higher-resolution textures, improved lighting, enhanced effects, and shorter loading times. These are EA’s published specifications, not independent performance measurements.

Can you play with someone who doesn’t own the game?
Yes. Friend’s Pass lets one player who owns the full game invite another player to join without buying it. The invited player must install the free Friend’s Pass trial and have an account for a supported platform. Online play requires both players to use supported platforms.
Does the Switch 2 version support cross-play?
EA lists cross-play for Nintendo Switch 2, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Separately, EA says Nintendo GameShare can connect a Switch 2 player with Nintendo Switch players. These are distinct options; EA’s announcement does not establish that the original Switch version supports the same cross-play platform list.
