The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company is the ferry operator to check for current sailings, with routes listed to Heysham, Liverpool, Larne and Dublin. For air travel, Isle of Man Airport lists direct services including Liverpool, Manchester, London and Dublin. The right option depends on your dates, departure point, vehicle needs and onward connections; check live schedules and availability before booking.
Which ferries currently serve the Isle of Man?
The Steam Packet’s Ferry Routes & Times page is the source to check for current routes and date-specific timetables. It lists connections between the Isle of Man and these ports:

- Heysham: A listed ferry connection; check the timetable for your travel date.
- Liverpool: A listed ferry connection and also a destination served by direct flights, so it may be useful to compare sea and air options.
- Larne: The operator says its Douglas–Larne sailing was introduced in April 2026 and runs year-round.
- Dublin: A listed route, but do not assume it operates on every date or at a frequency that suits your trip. Check the live timetable.
The operator says service to and from Belfast ceased in December 2025. For Northern Ireland, its current route information points to Larne rather than Belfast.
The available route information identifies Steam Packet as the ferry operator for these Isle of Man connections; it does not establish another scheduled passenger-ferry operator serving them. Sailing dates and times, fares, vehicle space and disruption notices can change, so use the operator’s live route and booking information.

Is flying a practical alternative?
Isle of Man Airport’s Routes and Airlines listing includes direct services to Liverpool, Manchester, London and Dublin. It names Loganair, easyJet and Emerald Airlines on relevant routes and indicates whether listed services are year-round or seasonal. Which airline and flights are available depends on the destination and date.
Flying can suit travellers who do not need to bring a vehicle, or whose starting point and onward connections make the airport more convenient. A ferry may suit someone who needs to take a car, motorcycle or other vehicle, subject to space and the fare on the chosen sailing. The available information does not establish a like-for-like fare or door-to-door travel-time comparison, so compare complete itineraries for your own dates.

London flights from 25 October 2026
In an announcement published on 29 September 2026, Isle of Man Airport said Loganair was scheduled to operate 11 return services per week between the Isle of Man and London Heathrow from 25 October 2026. The announced schedule includes weekday morning and evening services and a Sunday evening service; the London City service was due to cease. This is a dated winter 2026 schedule announcement, not a guarantee of availability on a particular day. Check the airline timetable for your trip. Read the airport announcement.

- Start with the whole journey. Compare how practical it is to reach the departure port or airport from your starting point, then consider which arrival point best serves your final destination.
- Check the exact dates. Confirm that the route operates when you need it and that suitable passenger places—or vehicle space, if required—are available.
- Decide whether you need a vehicle. If you plan to bring a car or motorcycle, check the ferry’s vehicle availability and fare. If you can travel without one, compare flights and onward ground transport.
- Compare connections, not just the crossing or flight. Include travel to the port or airport and onward transport at the other end. Consistent transfer times and door-to-door journey durations are not established by the available route listings.
- Compare total costs for the same itinerary and dates. Check current fares and relevant vehicle or onward-connection costs; no date-matched fare comparison is established here.
Does the Dublin ferry run on your date, or allow a same-day return?
The route is listed by Steam Packet, but whether it runs on your travel date—and whether the timetable allows a same-day return—requires checking the live schedule for that specific itinerary. The route listing does not establish a universal same-day ferry option or current fares. Use the operator’s routes and times page to check both directions and the dates you intend to travel.
