WARDOGS may be worth playing if you want large, objective-focused team battles and are comfortable with Early Access change. It is a poor fit if permanent levels, unlocks, and a settled progression system are your main reason to buy, because the first reported progression wipe for Season 2 sends players back to level 1 and the complete list of reset and carried-over account data has not been published in the sources available here.
The decision therefore comes down to what you value most: the current combined-arms match loop or long-term character accumulation. The game offers a distinctive three-team battlefield, cash decisions every life, and rewards for transport, revives, logistics, and objective control. Those systems are playable now, but they sit inside an Early Access project that the developers expect to keep changing.

What WARDOGS is
WARDOGS is an online, large-scale first-person shooter in Steam Early Access. The official Steam listing describes an “All-Out Warfare FPS” built around tactical gunplay, combined-arms combat, vehicles, logistics, building, destruction, and proximity voice chat. Matches support up to 100 players divided among three teams.
The game is designed around team objectives rather than a pure kill race. Three teams contest a randomized Control Zone measuring 2×2 km within a larger map. WARDOGS combines a broad battlefield with individual spending choices. You are not simply selecting a class once and running the same kit for an entire match. Each life begins with a budget, and the equipment you buy determines what role you can perform immediately. A transport-focused player, a support player carrying tools for team logistics, and an assault player contesting the zone can all contribute differently to the same victory condition.
How a match and its economy work
Control the changing objective
The Control Zone is randomized, so teams must relocate and reorganize instead of memorizing one permanent capture point. Holding the area earns score for your team; reaching 100 points ends the match. That structure gives transport, scouting, defensive positioning, and resupply a direct connection to winning, even when those actions do not produce many eliminations.
Buy a loadout for every life
Each player starts a match with $10,000 and spends that money on a custom loadout for each life, according to the official store description. The store specifically lists reviving allies, transporting teammates, and controlling the objective as cash-earning teamplay actions. Cash carries from match to match, creating a longer loop than the scoreboard alone. A player who consistently keeps a squad moving or alive can advance the team economy even without topping the kill column.

The official WARDOGS community page announced Season 2 for October 15, 2026: official Season 2 preview. Because that announced date has now passed relative to October 16, 2026, check the live announcement and patch notes for the actual rollout status rather than assuming the schedule alone confirms every change.

PC Gamer reported that this is the first progression wipe and that everyone returns to level 1. That is the specific reset detail supported by the available reporting. It should not be expanded into a claim that every unlock, currency balance, cosmetic, achievement, or challenge is deleted.
What remains unresolved
The Season 2 preview details new content and balance changes but does not provide a complete reset-and-carryover matrix in the text reviewed. Before buying for long-term progression, look for final patch notes that answer these questions:
- Does accumulated cash reset, despite the normal rule that cash carries between matches?
- Which weapon, vehicle, or equipment unlocks remain available?
