Short answer: a Genesis E-335 may justify a higher price if its sear zone, side burner, cooking space and other features solve needs your current grill does not. Those features alone cannot show that ribeye tastes better, though—and the available information does not establish which E-335 was bought for $1,000 or what a family taste test found.
“Genesis E-335” covers different models and regional configurations. The right value comparison depends on the exact grill, market, purchase date and what you would otherwise buy.

What the “Weber premium” can buy
Weber’s E-335 descriptions point to practical features, not a demonstrated taste advantage. Depending on the generation and market, those features include a dedicated sear zone, a side burner, extra cooking space, storage, and compatibility with accessories. They can make a grill more useful or convenient; whether they earn their cost depends on how you cook.
For example, Weber Canada’s listing for the Genesis II E-335 describes a three-burner liquid-propane grill with a sear station, side burner and porcelain-enameled cast-iron grates. It lists 669 square inches of total cooking area and a 10-year parts warranty subject to terms. Weber says the sear station creates an intense heat zone for adding sear marks. That is the manufacturer’s description of the feature, not independent evidence that it improves flavor.

Those specifications belong to that Canadian Genesis II listing. They should not be assumed to describe every E-335, or the grill behind a particular $1,000 purchase.
Why the exact E-335 matters
The name does not uniquely identify a grill. Weber’s current Japanese Genesis E-335 page describes a regional LPG model with WEBER CRAFTED compatibility, an extra-large sear zone, an expandable top cooking grate, a side burner and a grill locker. A separate Genesis E-335 specification sheet describes a regional configuration with three burners plus a side burner, a Sear Zone, Weber Crafted compatibility, and a Weber Crafted griddle. It states a 12-year limited warranty.

These are different regional product descriptions, not a single list of features that can safely be combined. The warranty, included accessories, fuel, layout and cooking area should be checked against the grill’s own model information and the terms for the market where it was sold. In particular, the 12-year warranty in the specification sheet should not be substituted for the 10-year parts warranty listed for the Canadian Genesis II model.

Does a sear zone make ribeye taste better?
A sear zone is intended to give the cook a hotter area for searing. That may help with the appearance and surface browning of a steak, but product descriptions do not establish that a steak cooked on one tastes better than a steak cooked on another grill. Flavor also depends on the steak and how it is prepared and cooked.

So a claim that an upgrade improved ribeye needs actual comparison results. Without the exact grill, comparison grill, cooking details and family grades, there is no supported taste-test verdict to report here. A product feature is not a substitute for those results.
What a useful family taste test should record
If you are deciding whether an upgrade changes the steak you serve, keep the comparison focused on the cooking outcome rather than the grill’s feature list. For an informal household tasting, record:

- The exact model and generation of each grill, and the fuel used.
- The steak cut, thickness and grade; preparation and seasoning; and cooking method and target doneness.
- Whether tasters knew which grill cooked each steak, who participated, and what scoring scale they used.
- Each person’s score as well as any average, and whether the comparison was repeated.
- Taste scores separately from searing appearance, ease of cooking and convenience.
These details help readers interpret the result. A single household tasting can describe those tasters’ preferences; without a controlled, repeated comparison, it should not be presented as proof that one grill universally makes better steak.
How to decide whether the price is justified
The “$1,000” in the headline cannot be treated as a current or universal price: it lacks a currency, market, purchase date and confirmed model. If it is the documented price paid for a specific grill, it is best understood as that purchase’s historical price. To judge value, compare that exact grill with realistic alternatives available in the same market and period.

Weber’s Genesis grilling guide advises direct grilling for steaks and resting larger cuts and thick steaks for 5 to 10 minutes before carving. That is manufacturer guidance, not a record of how any particular ribeye test was cooked.
Who is most likely to benefit from the upgrade?
- More likely to value it: cooks who will regularly use the sear zone, need the side burner or added cooking capacity, and value the exact model’s included features enough to justify its local price.
- Less likely to value it: cooks whose current grill already meets their needs, who rarely cook enough food to use the added capacity, or who are paying for features they will not use.
For a ribeye-focused decision, separate three questions: whether the steak tastes better to your household, whether the grill makes cooking easier or more consistent for you, and whether those benefits justify the price compared with an available alternative. Only the first requires a taste test; none can be settled by the model name alone.
