The TP-Link Archer AXE7800—also identified as the Archer AXE95—is a tri-band Wi-Fi 6E router with a useful 2.5 Gbps port and support for 6 GHz devices. It may suit an apartment or a small-to-medium home, but its standalone design is less compelling when you need reliable coverage across a very large or obstacle-heavy house. Whether it is a good buy depends on the model number, local availability, and the price you can verify today.
What is the Archer AXE7800?
TP-Link’s Canadian product page identifies the hardware as the Archer AXE95 and labels it an AXE7800 tri-band Wi-Fi 6E router. RTINGS also identifies the Archer AXE95 as the Archer AXE7800. Because regional listings may use different names, match the model number on the seller’s listing to the product you intend to buy. TP-Link’s Canadian product page is marked “End of Life”; that status applies to the Canadian page and does not establish availability in every region.

It is a standalone router, not a multi-node mesh kit. TP-Link lists OneMesh support, and RTINGS says compatible OneMesh extenders can be used to extend coverage.
What do its Wi-Fi specifications mean in practice?
The AXE7800 has separate 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands. TP-Link lists maximum link rates of 574 Mbps, 4,802 Mbps, and 2,402 Mbps, respectively. The AXE7800 class name summarizes the advertised capacity across bands; it is not a speed test or a promise that one device will receive 7,800 Mbps. Actual performance depends on the client device, signal conditions, network congestion, and internet connection.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Band | Manufacturer-listed maximum link rate | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| 2.4 GHz | 574 Mbps | Supports 802.11ax/n/b/g. |
| 5 GHz | 4,802 Mbps | Supports 802.11ax/ac/n/a. |
| 6 GHz | 2,402 Mbps | Supports Wi-Fi 6E / IEEE 802.11ax; only compatible 6 GHz clients can use this band. |
These are TP-Link’s specifications, not independently measured throughput figures. The manufacturer also lists a 1.7 GHz quad-core CPU, eight streams, eight external antennas, beamforming, 4×4 MU-MIMO, OFDMA, and DFS. TP-Link’s specifications provide the regional details.
How are the wired ports and USB useful?
For homes with a multi-gig internet plan or a fast wired device, the 2.5 Gbps port is a practical advantage. The router has one 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN port, one 1 Gbps WAN/LAN port, and three 1 Gbps LAN ports. One of the two WAN/LAN ports is selected for the WAN connection; do not count both as simultaneous internet inputs. A 2.5 Gbps port also does not make a slower modem, internet plan, or client device faster.

When one router may not be enough
RTINGS warns that very large homes can have dead zones, particularly where walls or other obstacles interfere with the signal, and considers a mesh system a better fit for very large coverage needs. The AXE7800’s OneMesh support offers an extension path with compatible TP-Link extenders, but it does not turn the router into a multi-node system by itself. If you need coverage across a large property, compare the cost and placement of a compatible extender or a mesh kit against buying this router alone.
Allow for the physical footprint
RTINGS describes the router as bulky, with eight large external antennas. Check where it will sit and whether its size and antenna arrangement fit your shelf or networking area before buying.

Is it a good buy at today’s price?
The available information does not establish a current price or stock status for your region. The Canadian product page is marked “End of Life,” while RTINGS provides retailer links; neither fact confirms what a local seller has in stock today or what it should cost. Check the exact AXE95/AXE7800 model number, the seller’s return and warranty terms, and whether the asking price makes sense for a standalone Wi-Fi 6E router. Do not treat the AXE7800 label or a past review as proof of current value.

Before choosing it, compare the features that matter in your home: whether your devices support 6 GHz, whether you need a 2.5 Gbps wired connection, how much coverage a single router can realistically provide, and whether you need USB sharing or backup functions. For broad coverage, compare against a multi-node mesh system; for a smaller space, weigh the router’s capabilities against its current local price and physical footprint.
