Sunbeam lists the Verve 680 Resilium, model SRA6800, as a domestic iron with a 2,400 W rating. Its Australian product page specifies a 1.9 kg product weight, dimensions of 170 × 138 × 311 mm, a 2,500 mm cord and a 300 ml water tank. Those details can help gauge whether its size and reach suit your ironing setup.

How credible is the 70% glide claim?
Sunbeam says the anodised Resilium soleplate provides “70% easier glide,” based on a cotton comparison with ceramic and stainless-steel soleplates. The page does not state a year for the figure. Treat it as a Sunbeam claim: the sources available for this review do not include an independent test of the SRA6800’s glide, crease removal or ironing speed. In particular, easier glide does not mean the iron removes creases 70% faster.

The soleplate has 172 steam holes, and Sunbeam describes the iron as using patented dual steam chambers. “Patented” is the manufacturer’s wording; no patent record is established here. Hole count and construction describe the design, but by themselves do not show how well the iron performs in everyday use.
Steam and convenience features
The listed 45 g/min continuous output and 160 g/min steam shot give the iron two stated steam modes, while a fine-mist spray can dampen fabric. Sunbeam also lists vertical steam for hanging garments or curtains, a drip stop intended to limit water dripping when the iron is too cool to produce steam, an anti-calc cartridge, a cord clip and safety auto-off. These feature descriptions come from Sunbeam’s product information and guide; they are not separate performance test results.

A 300 ml tank offers a useful point of comparison when considering refill frequency, but the product information does not state how long a full tank lasts under a particular setting. Actual use will depend on the fabric and steam setting.

How to use it safely on different fabrics
Follow the garment’s care label and the complete Sunbeam manual. If you are unsure which setting to use, Sunbeam advises testing a hidden area, such as a seam or inside hem, before ironing a visible section. Start at a low temperature and increase it gradually until you find a suitable setting. This reduces the risk of damaging a garment while you check its response to heat. - Use vertical steam for suitable hanging items, including garments and curtains.
- Use the fine-mist spray to dampen fabric that is difficult to press dry.
- If the iron is too cool to generate steam, the listed drip-stop feature is intended to help limit drips.
- For filling, cleaning and other operating details, follow the manual for the iron rather than relying on feature names alone.
Who should consider the Verve 680?
The SRA6800 is worth considering if you want a domestic steam iron with a relatively large listed 300 ml tank, a stated 45 g/min continuous steam rate, a steam shot, vertical steam and an auto-off feature. Its 1.9 kg listed weight may matter if you prefer a lighter iron or do long ironing sessions. The maker’s glide comparison may be a point of interest, but it should not be treated as independent proof of faster or better ironing.

If durability is your main concern, the available nine-review retailer snapshot is too small to settle the question. Before buying, check the current local price, stock and warranty terms, and compare other models using the same criteria: steam output, tank capacity, weight, cord length, safety and anti-calc features, and whether warranty coverage is replacement or repair.
