It is an in-ear monitor with an over-ear cable, detachable MMCX connection and 3.5 mm plug—not a conventional open-fit earbud. Whether it suits you depends on your device, fit and preferred amount of bass.
What makes the Sennheiser IE 200 a good wired-earbud pick?
Sennheiser’s IE 200 combines a 7 mm dynamic driver with a 1.2 m braided cable, MMCX connectors and an angled 3.5 mm plug, according to the manufacturer. Sennheiser lists its frequency response as 6–20,000 Hz. Those specifications describe the product; they do not by themselves establish how it will sound to every listener.

There is recent editorial support for considering it: TechRadar named the IE 200 its top overall pick in an August 2025 wired-earbuds guide. Its reviewer praised the sound’s clarity and separation, saying instruments had room to breathe. SoundGuys, in a March 2023 review, described its frequency response as relatively subdued and suitable for analytical as well as casual listening, and gave it 7.4/10. That score is SoundGuys’ editorial rating, not a measure of how listeners generally rate it.

The IE 200 seals inside the ear and routes its cable over the ear. Sennheiser includes silicone and memory-foam eartips in small, medium and large, plus a pouch. Try the supplied tips to find a secure, comfortable seal: SoundGuys cautions that a poor fit can affect frequency response. Its review also notes relatively quiet bass, which may not match the preference of listeners who want a stronger low end.

TechRadar’s positive listening impressions and SoundGuys’ bass and fit caveats are reviewer opinions, not guarantees. If possible, audition the earphones or buy from a seller with a return policy that works for you.
Make sure the connector works with your device
The IE 200 terminates in a 3.5 mm plug. It connects directly to devices with a compatible headphone jack; phones without one may need a compatible USB-C DAC or adapter. That is an optional extra for those devices, not an accessory every buyer needs.

Know what can be replaced
The cable detaches at MMCX connectors, and Sennheiser lists an IE-series replacement cable and compatible silicone tips. Check the manufacturer’s compatibility details before buying a replacement; do not assume every third-party MMCX cable will fit or work as intended. At the time reflected on Sennheiser’s US product page, the listed prices were $89.95 for the cable and $19.95 for the silicone tip pack; prices can change.

Availability and alternatives
Sennheiser’s IE 200 product page is live, but that alone does not confirm current stock at a particular retailer. Its CX 300S page was indexed as temporarily out of stock; that listing is not enough to establish a detailed comparison or current availability. Check local stock and price before ordering.

A 2026 TechRadar review compares the Beyerdynamic DT 30 IE with the IE 200, but it is a review of the Beyerdynamic, not a new test of the Sennheiser. Use it as comparison context rather than evidence that the IE 200’s performance has changed.
