The Samsung S90H is a strong OLED choice for a room with windows or lights because its matte Glare Free screen controls reflections well and its SDR brightness is very good. It is not glare-proof, though: ambient light can still lift blacks and mute dark colors, while very bright HDR scenes may be held back by the TV’s automatic brightness limiter.
What makes the S90H suited to bright rooms?

How bright is the picture, and what are the limits?
In Tom’s Guide’s 2026 test of its 55-inch sample, the S90H reached 1,497 nits of HDR brightness at a 10% window and 226 nits of SDR brightness at a 10% window. The reviewer measured in Filmmaker mode. These are results for that sample and test setup, not guaranteed performance for every screen size, picture mode, firmware, or scene. [Tom’s Guide]

A 10% window measures a small bright area rather than an entire screen filled with bright content. RTINGS says small HDR highlights pop, but very bright HDR scenes can look dimmer because of the automatic brightness limiter. That can be noticeable in high-average-brightness material such as snow scenes or some sports broadcasts. The S90H’s bright highlights therefore do not mean every bright HDR scene will stay equally luminous. [RTINGS]
Is it good for gaming?
Samsung advertises refresh rates up to 165Hz, and RTINGS reports four HDMI 2.1 ports with 4K/165Hz and variable refresh rate support. Samsung says 4K/165Hz requires a compatible PC graphics card and game; it is a manufacturer specification, not a measured result or a guarantee that every console or game will use that rate. FreeSync tier varies by size: Samsung’s announcement says S90H models from 55 to 83 inches have FreeSync Premium Pro, while the 42- and 48-inch versions have FreeSync Premium. What should you know about formats and panel variations?
RTINGS reports that the S90H does not support Dolby Vision or DTS. If Dolby Vision content or DTS audio compatibility is important to your setup, verify how your source devices and audio equipment handle those formats before buying. [RTINGS]
