1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteSometimes—but only when the S25 Ultra is materially cheaper than an equivalent Galaxy S26 Ultra. A discount label by itself is not enough. Compare the final price for the same storage, condition, carrier status and trade-in assumptions. In a dated US snapshot from October 7, 2026, Samsung showed a 256GB S25 Ultra at $1,299.99 while an unlocked 256GB S26 Ultra was shown at $1,199.99 after a $200 reduction. On that comparison, the older phone was not the bargain.
The S25 Ultra remains a high-end, large-screen phone with a 200MP main camera, four rear cameras, a 5,000mAh battery and an integrated S Pen. The S26 Ultra adds a built-in Privacy Display and faster wired and wireless charging. Decide how much those improvements matter to you, then verify the exact offer at checkout.

When the S25 Ultra is actually a good deal
Use a like-for-like comparison rather than the seller’s “up to” saving. The S25 Ultra is worth considering when all of these conditions are true:
- The S25 Ultra’s final price is clearly below an S26 Ultra with the same storage capacity.
- Both phones have the same condition (new versus renewed), carrier status and return terms.
- Any trade-in credit is available to you and is shown separately from the unconditional discount.
- You do not need the S26 Ultra’s built-in Privacy Display or higher charging rates.
- The seller provides acceptable warranty coverage, stock and support for the years you plan to keep the phone.
If the S25 costs the same as—or more than—the S26 in an equivalent configuration, buying the newer model is normally the more rational choice. A small S25 saving may not compensate for giving up newer hardware and a longer period before the device feels dated.

What the Galaxy S25 Ultra still offers
The S25 Ultra is not a budget phone. It is a premium model with a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, adaptive 1–120Hz refresh rate, a 200MP main camera and a built-in S Pen. TechRadar’s 2026 comparison lists the following published specifications.
| Specification | Galaxy S25 Ultra |
|---|---|
| Display | 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X; adaptive 1–120Hz refresh rate |
| Rear cameras | 200MP main, 50MP ultrawide, 10MP telephoto and 50MP telephoto |
| Front camera | 12MP |
| Battery | 5,000mAh |
| Wired charging | 45W |
| Wireless charging | 15W |
| Storage options | 256GB, 512GB and 1TB |
| Other hardware called out by SamMobile | Integrated S Pen, Gorilla Armor anti-reflective glass, 3x and 5x zoom cameras |
These are published specifications, not independent test results. They explain why a discounted S25 can still suit someone who wants a large screen, long-zoom camera options, stylus input and substantial storage without paying flagship launch pricing.
Display and S Pen use
The 6.9-inch panel and 1–120Hz adaptive range are the same headline display dimensions and refresh range listed for the S26 Ultra. The S25’s built-in S Pen is useful for handwritten notes, marking up documents, remote-camera controls and precise editing. If you regularly use a stylus, confirm that the exact phone and included accessories match the listing; renewed listings can vary.

The four-camera arrangement gives the S25 Ultra a 200MP primary camera, a 50MP ultrawide and two telephoto focal lengths identified as 3x and 5x by SamMobile. Camera specifications do not guarantee identical results across generations: image processing, autofocus behavior and low-light tuning can change with a successor. Treat the S25’s camera system as a strong reason to buy at the right price, not proof that it outperforms the S26.
S25 Ultra versus S26 Ultra: the differences that affect the decision
The successor keeps the 6.9-inch size, 1–120Hz refresh range, 5,000mAh battery and a 200MP/50MP/10MP/50MP rear-camera layout listed in TechRadar’s comparison. Its meaningful advantages are the newer generation, faster charging and a built-in Privacy Display.

Samsung’s official comparison describes the S26 Ultra’s Privacy Display and notes that the 6.9-inch measurement is diagonal across the full rectangle; rounded corners and the camera opening reduce the viewable area. That clarification applies when comparing screen sizes, not just when reading a specification sheet.
What the published prices show
Original US launch prices
TechRadar reported these original US starting prices for the S25 Ultra and S26 Ultra. They are launch-price references, not today’s guaranteed offers.
| Storage | S25 Ultra original US price | S26 Ultra reported launch price | S26 premium over S25 launch price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 256GB | $1,299 | $1,299.99 | $0.99 |
| 512GB | $1,419 | $1,499.99 | $80.99 |
| 1TB | $1,659 | $1,799.99 | $140.99 |
Samsung announced the S26 Ultra at a US starting price of $1,299.99, with general availability from March 11, 2026 through Samsung.com, Amazon, Best Buy, Samsung Experience Stores and carriers. Launch pricing and channel availability do not establish the current price in your country.
October 7, 2026 US price snapshot
GeekChamp’s dated snapshot is more useful for the buying question but still is not a live quote. It showed Samsung’s displayed 256GB S25 Ultra listing at $1,299.99. The same article showed an unlocked 256GB S26 Ultra at $1,199.99 after a $200 reduction. The phones were not therefore a same-price comparison in the S25’s favor, even though the S25 is the older model.
| Listing in the October 7, 2026 snapshot | Displayed price | Condition or status noted |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S25 Ultra 256GB on Samsung’s page | $1,299.99 | Displayed Samsung listing; the snapshot does not make this a universal current price |
| Galaxy S26 Ultra 256GB | $1,199.99 | Unlocked; shown after a $200 reduction |
| Galaxy S25 Ultra 256GB on Amazon | $669.20 | Renewed unlocked listing; seller and condition equivalence require checkout verification |
| Galaxy S25 Ultra 256GB on Amazon | $662.44 | Renewed unlocked listing; a separate configuration from the other 256GB offer |
| Galaxy S25 Ultra 512GB on Amazon | $719.56 | Renewed unlocked listing |
| Galaxy S25 Ultra 512GB on Amazon | $723.99 | Renewed unlocked listing |
The renewed prices look dramatically lower, but they are not directly comparable with a new S26 Ultra or a new Samsung listing. The article reporting them does not establish that the offers remain available, that sellers use the same grading standard, or that warranty and return terms match.

How to compare a discount correctly
Run this process for every offer you are considering. It prevents an attractive headline price from hiding a different configuration or a conditional credit.
- Record the exact model. Note S25 Ultra, storage capacity, color if it affects availability, regional model number when shown, and whether the phone is new, open-box, refurbished or renewed.
- Write down the unconditional checkout price. Start with the amount anyone who qualifies for the listing can pay, before trade-in credits. Include sales tax, delivery, activation fees and any required accessory purchase where the seller shows them.
- Check storage parity. Compare 256GB with 256GB, 512GB with 512GB and 1TB with 1TB. A lower-capacity S25 is not a like-for-like bargain against a higher-capacity S26.
- Separate trade-in value. Record the value of your old phone only if you meet the eligibility, inspection and submission requirements. Keep promotional trade-in credit separate from the cash price so you can compare the deal with another seller.
- Verify network status. Confirm “unlocked” in the listing and check compatibility with your carrier and local bands. A carrier-branded phone can have different activation or financing restrictions even when the hardware name is identical.
- Read condition language. For renewed devices, look for the grading definition, battery-health policy, included S Pen and charger, signs of wear and whether replacement parts may be used.
- Check warranty and returns before paying. Record the warranty provider, duration, exclusions, return window and who pays return shipping. A low price is less attractive if a defect leaves you without a practical remedy.
- Price the features you would otherwise buy around. If you need private viewing in public, faster wired charging or faster wireless charging, treat the S26’s built-in features as part of its value rather than comparing dollars alone.
- Check the date and stock. Promotions, inventory and seller terms can change. Reopen the product page immediately before ordering and save the final configuration and terms.
New, renewed and refurbished are different purchases
A new S25 Ultra and a renewed S25 Ultra may share a model name but carry different risks. The October 7 Amazon figures are dated observations of renewed unlocked listings, not guarantees of current inventory.
Questions to answer on a renewed listing
- Who is the actual seller, and is the listing backed by a marketplace guarantee?
- What does “renewed” mean on that page: cosmetic grade, tested functions and battery-health threshold?
- Is the phone factory unlocked, or merely compatible with one carrier?
- Are the S Pen, charging cable and original box included?
- What warranty applies, and is it from the manufacturer, marketplace or seller?
- How many days do you have to return it, and are restocking or shipping fees possible?
- Can you verify the device’s IMEI and activation status if the phone arrives?
Photograph the packaging and record the device condition when it arrives. Test the display, cameras, S Pen, speakers, microphones, charging, wireless charging, biometrics and cellular connection during the return period. Those checks are practical protection for a renewed purchase; they are not evidence that every renewed listing has the same quality.
Who should buy the S25 Ultra at a discount
Buyers who want the S Pen and a large display
If stylus input is central to your work or study, the S25 Ultra provides it without requiring a separate accessory. The 6.9-inch display also suits split-screen documents, drawing and media, provided you accept the phone’s large physical size.
Photographers who value the camera range
The 200MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide and two telephoto cameras offer a flexible setup. Choose the S25 when the price difference is substantial and you are satisfied with its generation of image processing. Do not buy solely because the megapixel counts resemble the S26’s; published hardware does not establish real-world image quality.

Storage-heavy users
The 512GB and 1TB versions can make sense for people who keep large video libraries, high-resolution photos, games or offline maps. Compare those capacities directly with the S26 equivalents; the launch-price gap was larger at 512GB and 1TB than at 256GB.
Careful bargain hunters
A verified renewed S25 can be compelling when it is hundreds of dollars below a new successor and the warranty and return policy are acceptable. Treat the lower price as compensation for condition and support risk, not as proof that the phone is equivalent to a new unit.

People who need Privacy Display
The S26 Ultra’s built-in Privacy Display is the clearest functional differentiator. If you routinely handle confidential messages, business documents, financial information or medical details in public, that feature may be worth more than a modest S25 discount.
Frequent chargers
The S26 is listed with 60W wired charging and 25W wireless charging, compared with 45W and 15W for the S25. Faster ratings do not guarantee a particular charging time, because results depend on the charger, cable, temperature, battery level and software, but the hardware advantage is relevant if you top up repeatedly during the day.

The S26 starts one generation later. The reviewed material does not establish an authoritative S25 support end date, so no precise cutoff should be assumed. If your ownership horizon is long, compare the remaining support commitment published for the exact region and model before deciding. A small price difference may not justify starting with older hardware.

Those who find an equal-price deal
If an unlocked, new 256GB S26 costs less than a new 256GB S25—as in the October 7 snapshot—the S26 removes the main reason to choose the older phone. Recheck that both prices are genuinely available to you and do not rely on a temporary promotion that has expired.
Software, regional features and long-term ownership
One UI and Galaxy AI feature parity can change with software updates and region. A feature available on one country’s firmware may not appear on another, and an advertised function can require a later update. Before buying, check Samsung’s support pages for your country, the model number shown by the seller and the specific AI or connectivity functions you need.
Do not infer a support end date from the phone’s launch year alone. The available comparisons identify hardware and charging differences but do not provide an authoritative S25 Ultra software-support deadline. Verify that commitment locally if support length is a deciding factor.
A practical decision rule
After completing the checks, classify the offer in one of three ways:
| Offer result | Decision | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| S25 is new, same storage and unlocked, with a substantial unconditional saving over S26 | Buy the S25 if you do not need Privacy Display or faster charging | You are receiving the core S25 flagship hardware at a meaningful discount. |
| S25 and S26 are close in price, or S26 is cheaper | Choose S26 | The newer model adds Privacy Display, faster charging and a later hardware generation. |
| S25 is renewed and far cheaper, with verified seller, warranty and returns | Buy only if you accept condition risk | The saving may be worthwhile, but it is not equivalent to a new-phone deal. |
| Listing has unclear storage, lock status, seller or returns | Skip the offer | You cannot calculate the real value until the purchase risks are known. |
Bottom-line buying checklist
- Same storage capacity on both phones.
- Same condition category: new, open-box or renewed.
- Final price recorded before and after any qualifying trade-in.
- Unlocked status and local carrier compatibility confirmed.
- Privacy Display and charging differences considered.
- Warranty, return period and included accessories checked.
- Current stock and promotion rechecked on the day of purchase.
- Local software-support information verified for the exact model.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra remains worth buying at a discount when the discount is real, the comparison is like-for-like and its feature set matches your priorities. The dated US evidence shows why you must check the successor first: an older phone can cost more than the newer one, while a carefully verified renewed listing can be dramatically cheaper but carries different ownership risks.
