Yes, the Samsung Galaxy A57 5G is worth considering if you want a large AMOLED display, Samsung’s One UI experience, a slim design and a long stated software-support window. It is less compelling at its launch price if you prioritize gaming performance, zoom photography or maximum hardware for your money. Whether it is a good buy depends on the price and alternatives available in your market.
What you get with the Galaxy A57
The A57 is a midrange 5G phone announced by Samsung on March 25, 2026. Its core appeal is a combination of a large screen, everyday camera flexibility, relatively light construction and extended stated software support.

How long will Samsung support it?
Samsung states that the A57 is eligible for up to six OS upgrades and up to six years of security and maintenance releases. That is a meaningful advantage if you intend to keep the phone for several years, but “up to” is not an exact delivery schedule. Feature timing and availability can vary by region and variant. Where the A57 makes sense
Samsung users seeking a familiar upgrade
If you already use Samsung phones, the A57 offers the familiar One UI environment and Samsung’s ecosystem of services in a non-flagship device. The large AMOLED display and included everyday features are more relevant than chasing a single headline specification.

People who keep phones for years
The stated support window makes the A57 easier to consider for a longer ownership cycle than a phone with a shorter published commitment. It is a promise of up to six OS upgrades and up to six years of security and maintenance releases, not a guarantee that all updates arrive everywhere at the same time.

Everyday photo takers who want wide-angle flexibility
The wide and ultrawide cameras provide two useful perspectives for routine photos. Samsung also describes night photography improvements, but that is the manufacturer’s account rather than an independent comparison. The camera set is less suited to people who regularly photograph distant subjects because there is no listed dedicated telephoto lens.

Zoom photography
The A57’s listed rear cameras include wide, ultrawide and macro lenses, but no dedicated telephoto. In its comparison, Tom’s Guide found that a rival with optical zoom produced better zoomed shots. That is a finding from that publication’s test, not a universal ranking of every camera in every situation. Tom’s Guide review.
Value at full launch pricing
Samsung’s U.S. announcement set the A57’s starting price at $549.99, with availability beginning April 9, 2026. Samsung UK announced availability from April 10, 2026, at RRPs of £529 for 256GB storage with 8GB RAM and £699 for 512GB with 12GB RAM. These are regional launch prices, not live quotes, and the configurations differ. Samsung U.S. launch announcement and Samsung UK announcement.

Tom’s Guide says the U.S. starting price rose from $499 for the A56 to $549 for the A57 and characterizes the generational improvements as incremental. TechRadar also argues that the phone becomes more attractive with a solid discount. Those assessments make local street pricing important: a launch RRP is not automatically the best value against competing phones at their current prices. Tom’s Guide review and TechRadar review.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to decide between the A57 and alternatives
Compare phones that cost about the same in your local market, and match the storage and RAM configurations before judging value. The most useful checks are:
- Current local price for the exact storage and RAM variant.
- Manufacturer-stated OS and security-support commitments.
- Display size and panel type, if you watch or read on your phone often.
- Graphics performance in independent tests, if you play demanding games.
- Whether you need a dedicated telephoto camera for distant subjects.
- Battery endurance measured in comparable independent tests. Capacity alone does not establish which phone lasts longer.
- Warranty coverage and network compatibility for your market and carrier.
Verdict: is the Samsung Galaxy A57 worth buying?
The Galaxy A57 is a sensible candidate for Samsung users and long-term owners who value a large AMOLED screen, familiar software, a lighter, thinner build and an extended stated support commitment. It is harder to recommend at full launch pricing to buyers who want stronger graphics performance, optical zoom or the most hardware per dollar. Check the live price and compare similarly priced models in your market before choosing.
