The REDMI Pad 2 9.7 4G is suitable for casual games and lighter titles, but it is not a strong choice if you expect demanding games to run smoothly at high graphics settings or high frame rates. Its display can refresh at up to 120 Hz; that is not the same as a game rendering 120 frames per second. Independent tests recorded much lower frame rates in games such as Genshin Impact.
Which Redmi Pad 2 9.7 is this?
This assessment is about the REDMI Pad 2 9.7 4G, the smaller model with Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2. It is not the separate 11-inch Redmi Pad 2, so do not transfer performance claims or specifications between the two without checking the model. Notebookcheck’s review identifies its tested unit as the 4 GB RAM configuration (Notebookcheck review).

What do the game tests show?
The reported results are individual device tests, not guaranteed performance for every unit. Frame rates can vary with the game, graphics settings, software build and test conditions.

| Game or test | Reported result | Test context |
|---|---|---|
| Genshin Impact | 27.3 fps average at the lowest tested setting (9–36 fps range); 17 fps average at the highest tested setting (5–19 fps range) | Notebookcheck, 2026 (game test) |
| PUBG Mobile | 47.6 fps average (28–51 fps range) | Notebookcheck, 2026 (game test) |
| Dead Trigger 2 | 57.6 fps average (41–60 fps range) | Notebookcheck, 2026 (game test) |
| Mobile Legends | About 43 fps | YugaTech, medium graphics, GameBench (review) |
| Genshin Impact | 26 fps average | YugaTech, low graphics, GameBench (review) |
| 3DMark Wild Life | Score of 588; 3.53 average fps | YugaTech synthetic graphics benchmark; not a prediction of frame rate in a particular game (review) |
What does the 120 Hz screen mean for gaming?
Xiaomi lists a display refresh rate of up to 120 Hz for this model (specifications). Refresh rate describes how often the display can update; game frame rate describes how many images the device renders each second. A 120 Hz panel does not make a game run at 120 fps. The measured results above show why it is more useful to look for tests of the particular game and settings you care about than to judge performance by the display specification alone.

Is it a good buy for the games you play?
Casual and lighter games
The results are more encouraging for lighter titles: Notebookcheck measured 57.6 fps on average in Dead Trigger 2, while YugaTech reported about 43 fps in Mobile Legends at medium graphics. Those are test results, not guarantees, but they suggest the tablet is better suited to less demanding play than to pushing demanding games at high settings.
Demanding games
Genshin Impact is the clearest caution. Notebookcheck measured a 27.3 fps average at its lowest tested setting and 17 fps at its highest; YugaTech’s low-graphics GameBench test averaged 26 fps. The difference between reports underlines that results depend on test conditions, but neither supports expecting consistently smooth, high-frame-rate play in this demanding title.

Games between those extremes
Notebookcheck’s PUBG Mobile result—47.6 fps on average, with a 28–51 fps range—sits between its Genshin Impact and Dead Trigger 2 results. That spread is a useful reminder that “gaming performance” is not one number: a tablet can feel adequate in one game and constrained in another.

What to check before buying
- Confirm the listing is for the 9.7-inch 4G model, not the separate 11-inch Redmi Pad 2.
- Look for a measured result in the specific game you play, ideally using the graphics preset you intend to use.
- Consider both average performance and the reported range: a decent average can still include noticeable slowdowns.
- Treat the 120 Hz display specification as a screen capability, not a promise of 120 fps gameplay.
