PC Gamer reported the 1 TB PNY CS2241 at Amazon for $135.99, reduced from $159.99, on October 6, 2026—about $0.13 per GB by its calculation. That makes it a value-oriented option for adding game or file storage, but the price is a dated report, not a live quote. Check the current listing and stock before buying.
What was the reported Prime Day deal?
PC Gamer’s October 6, 2026 article listed the PNY CS2241 1 TB at Amazon for $135.99, down from $159.99, and described the offer as about $0.13 per GB. The publication’s author, Jess Kinghorn, called it “easily the most affordable 1 TB NVMe SSD I would recommend right now.” That is a dated editorial judgment, not a market-wide ranking or a guarantee the offer remains available. The CS2241 is an internal M.2 2280 NVMe SSD using a PCIe Gen4 x4 interface. Before ordering, confirm your device has an available M.2 2280 slot that supports NVMe. A matching physical size alone does not guarantee compatibility; check the device or motherboard specifications and installation guidance.

What performance should you expect?
PNY lists maximum sequential speeds of 5,100 MB/s for reads and 3,200 MB/s for writes. These are manufacturer ratings, not guaranteed sustained speeds on every system. PNY says results vary with the host device, user settings, configuration, operating system, and applications. PNY’s product specifications

For context, PC Gamer cites 7,400 MB/s read and 6,500 MB/s write for the Biwin Black Opal NV7400. Those higher figures make the Biwin the faster-rated option in that article’s comparison, but they are not results from an independently verified head-to-head test. Peak sequential ratings alone also do not settle which drive is better for a particular workload.

The reported offer is aimed at buyers who want additional internal capacity without prioritizing the fastest drive in the comparison. It may suit a growing game library or files that do not need immediate access, provided the drive is compatible and the current price remains attractive. If you regularly move large files or care about higher sequential throughput, compare the CS2241’s ratings and current price with faster alternatives.
When comparing drives, weigh current price per usable capacity alongside sequential read and write ratings, form factor, interface compatibility, warranty terms, and your workload. The PNY’s reported price-per-gigabyte advantage and the Biwin speed comparison reflect PC Gamer’s October 6, 2026 article, not today’s market as a whole.
