The Philips Fidelio FT1 and FA3 make a versatile but deliberately energetic stereo system: the FT1 plays both records and CDs, while the powered FA3 pair adds TV, wired-audio and wireless connections. It is a strong fit if you want those sources in one setup and enjoy a bold sound. It is less convincing if you prefer a restrained presentation or need compact desktop speakers.
What you get in the FT1 and FA3 system
The Philips Fidelio FT1 (model TAFT1/10) is a two-speed, belt-driven turntable for 33⅓ and 45 rpm records. It also has a tray-loading CD player, Bluetooth 5.4, Auracast, RCA output and a headphone port. Philips lists an adjustable counterweight, a replaceable Audio-Technica moving-magnet stylus and auto-stop. It can be used wired or wirelessly. The Fidelio FA3 (model TAFA3/10) is a pair of active, two-way bookshelf speakers intended to complement the FT1. Philips specifies a 1-inch titanium dome tweeter, a 5-inch fiberglass woofer and 50 W RMS per channel, with a stated frequency range of 40 Hz–40 kHz. Inputs include USB-C, RCA, optical and HDMI ARC; wireless connections include Bluetooth 5.4 and Auracast. Bass and treble controls and app EQ let you adjust the sound. Those figures are manufacturer-listed specifications, not independent measurements. The Philips FA3 product page has the model details.

The secondary speaker connects to the primary with a coaxial audio cable or a 2.4 GHz wireless link. T3 reports that the digital audio path operates natively at 24-bit/96 kHz, with higher-resolution inputs downsampled; that ceiling is useful context if you plan to feed the speakers high-resolution audio.

How does the system sound?
T3 reviewer Simon Lucas describes the combined system as energetic, direct and detailed, with engaging vocals, a broad, well-defined soundstage, substantial low-frequency output and lively treble. Lucas’s summary is that “What’s most immediately impressive and engaging about this set-up is the sense of energy and animation it creates.” That is a listening judgment, not a measured performance claim. T3’s review of the FT1 and FA3 also considers the components with other sources and speakers.
The same forceful character is the main trade-off. If you want a subtle or neutral balance, the emphasis can become tiring rather than exciting. TechRadar also characterizes the FA3 as forceful and full-scale. What Hi-Fi? finds it bold and powerful, but less subtle and clear than the Ruark MR1 Mk3 and Onkyo GX-30ARC in its comparison. Will the speakers fit your room?
The FA3 pair is substantial for desktop use, according to T3, so check the dimensions and available space before buying. T3 also notes that the speakers tilt upward in an unusual way. Their placement and listening height therefore matter: aim them toward your listening position rather than assuming they behave like level, forward-facing bookshelf speakers.
The glossy surfaces can show fingerprints, and T3 found the app and remote controls idiosyncratic. These are practical annoyances rather than sound-quality problems, but they are worth weighing if you expect a compact, understated setup or particularly intuitive controls.

Connections and setup choices
The main advantage of the combination is how many sources it can cover. Vinyl and CDs come from the FT1, while the FA3’s HDMI ARC input can connect to a compatible TV and its optical, RCA and USB-C inputs support other wired sources. Bluetooth 5.4 and Auracast add wireless options. Check the connection on each source before purchase, especially if you expect to use the turntable’s RCA output rather than a wireless link.
Decide how you want the two speakers linked: by the included system’s coaxial audio connection or its 2.4 GHz wireless link. Wireless linking does not remove the need for mains power at either speaker. T3’s reported native 24-bit/96 kHz digital path may also matter if your source outputs a higher resolution.

What does the system cost, and is it available?
The FT1 and FA3 are sold separately, so the price of either component alone is not the price of the complete setup. T3 reported UK prices on 23 August 2026 of £269 for the FT1 and £349 for the FA3. The same report gave approximate regional equivalents of $349/AU$469 for the FT1 and $399/AU$499 for the FA3. These are dated regional price indications, not a bundle price or a guarantee of current pricing. TechRadar reported the FA3 at $399 / £349 / AU$499 and a January 2026 release following its September 2025 announcement. Check local retailer listings for today’s price and stock; Philips’ regional FA3 storefront showed out-of-stock status when viewed for this article, which does not establish availability elsewhere.

- Consider the pair if you want a single source component for vinyl and CDs, need several speaker inputs including HDMI ARC, and like a bold, forward sound.
- Look elsewhere or audition first if you prioritize a restrained, neutral presentation; What Hi-Fi? points to the Ruark MR1 Mk3 and Onkyo GX-30ARC as powered-speaker comparisons with greater subtlety or clarity.
- Check the footprint and placement if the speakers will sit on a desk or in a small room, particularly given their size and upward-tilting orientation.
- Compare by function, not just price: Sony’s PS-LX310BT is a cited Bluetooth turntable alternative, but it is not an equivalent to the FT1’s integrated CD player or to the complete FT1/FA3 system. T3 notes that a like-for-like turntable with an integrated CD player and matching speakers is difficult to find.
Before committing, compare the local cost of the two separately sold components and confirm that the inputs, speaker-link method and placement suit your room. The combination’s appeal rests on its source flexibility and lively sound, not on being the most compact or tonally understated choice.
