The Ninja Crispi MW101 is a countertop microwave that adds air frying and an automatic microwave-to-air-fry finish. That combination is useful if you want one appliance to handle quick reheating and crisping, but it comes with a substantial footprint, a moderate-size cooking chamber and mixed independent air-fry results. It is best viewed as a space-conscious way to combine functions only if you have enough counter room—not as a small microwave or a proven replacement for a dedicated air fryer.
What the Ninja Crispi MW101 does
The MW101 combines microwave and convection/air-fry cooking. SharkNinja lists 1,000 watts of microwave input and 1,700 watts of convection/air-fry input. Its FusionCrisp mode starts with microwave cooking and then automatically switches to air frying to finish the food. SharkNinja describes the unit as having 14 functions: eight microwave presets, five air-fry presets and FusionCrisp. These are manufacturer specifications and descriptions, not independent confirmation that every preset or marketing claim delivers a particular result. How well does it cook?
Microwave heating
RTINGS reported quick microwave heating and simple controls in its model-specific testing. That makes the MW101’s microwave function a practical part of the combination, rather than an add-on that can be ignored. See RTINGS’ review, published September 10, 2026, for its test findings.
Air frying and FusionCrisp
Independent observations are mixed. RTINGS found that air-fry preheating was slow and that the appliance had difficulty maintaining a steady temperature. Homes & Gardens, in a hands-on review published September 21, 2026, reported crisp frozen nuggets and wedges, and vegetables cooked in just over 20 minutes compared with 40–45 minutes in that reviewer’s oven. Those are different publications’ observations under their own test conditions; they are not a guarantee of results in every kitchen. The findings suggest the microwave function is the more predictable strength, while air-fry speed and consistency may matter more to buyers who plan to use that mode often. Does the flatbed layout make up for the moderate capacity?
The cooking chamber is listed as 0.9 cubic feet; RTINGS measured 0.88 cubic feet. Because it has no turntable, the usable floor is flat, so some rectangular dishes can fit without needing space for a rotating plate. That layout does not make the chamber large: RTINGS also cautioned that larger containers can be limiting. Consider the dishes and containers you actually use, rather than treating the flat floor as extra capacity. RTINGS’ MW101 review provides the advertised and measured chamber figures.
How much counter space does it need?
SharkNinja lists the MW101 at 20.3 × 17.56 × 14.1 inches and 41.01 pounds. Homes & Gardens reported that the appliance took up much of the reviewer’s counter. It may consolidate a microwave and air fryer, but it remains a large, heavy countertop appliance; measure the intended spot and allow for the access and ventilation required by the manufacturer before buying. What comes in the box, and which cookware works?
The package includes 5.5-quart CleanCrisp glassware, a crisper plate and a recipe book. SharkNinja says the included glassware and plate are dishwasher-safe. Compatibility is important: the manufacturer says other Crispi glassware can be used in this MW101 only in microwave mode. Air Fry and FusionCrisp require MW101 glassware, so do not assume accessories for another Crispi model will support those functions. How does it compare with other countertop microwaves?
The MW101’s distinguishing feature is its automatic microwave-then-crisp workflow. If chamber size or additional cooking modes matter more, RTINGS describes the GE JES1109RRSS and Panasonic HomeMADE NN-CD66NS as offering a larger chamber and/or additional cooking modes. The Breville Smooth Wave has a larger chamber, but it is not the same microwave-plus-air-fryer combination. Who should buy the MW101?
- Consider it if you want a microwave and air-fry option in one appliance, value the automatic FusionCrisp sequence, and have room for a large unit.
- Look elsewhere if you need a compact microwave, regularly use large dishes, or require consistently fast, temperature-stable air frying.
- Compare before deciding if a larger chamber or other cooking modes matter more than automatic microwave-to-crisp cooking.
