It looks promising for gaming and a high-refresh display, but the exact CPU, memory, SSD, and regional features depend on the retail SKU. Reviews also flag loud fans, limited battery life, a basic webcam, and a 2.3 kg chassis as trade-offs.
What are the MSI Crosshair 16 HX E14WFK specs?
MSI’s family specification page identifies the E14WFK as the RTX 5060 version. Its listed GPU has 8 GB of GDDR7, up to 2497 MHz boost clock, and up to 115 W maximum graphics power with Dynamic Boost; MSI says power may vary by scenario. The family also lists up to 200 W combined CPU-GPU power with OverBoost. These are manufacturer specifications, not a promise that every workload sustains those limits.

| Specification | What the published information establishes |
|---|---|
| GPU | GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU, 8 GB GDDR7; up to 2497 MHz boost clock and up to 115 W maximum graphics power with Dynamic Boost, which MSI says may vary by scenario (MSI, 2026). |
| Display | 16-inch, 2560×1600 QHD+, 240 Hz, IPS-Level (MSI). MSI’s Hong Kong E14WFK-039HK sheet specifies 100% DCI-P3 typical for that SKU. |
| Memory | Two DDR5-5600 slots; MSI lists up to 96 GB maximum. The E14WFK-039HK sheet lists 16 GB in one module. |
| Storage | One M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen4 slot and one M.2 PCIe Gen5-compatible slot, per MSI. The E14WFK-039HK sheet lists one 1 TB Gen4 SSD. |
| CPU | MSI says the family supports up to an Intel Core i9 HX-series processor (14th Gen), but that does not establish the CPU in every E14WFK. The Hong Kong E14WFK-039HK sheet names a Core i7-14650HX with 16 cores (8 P-cores and 8 E-cores), 24 threads, and up to 5.2 GHz turbo. |
| Operating system and battery | The Hong Kong E14WFK-039HK sheet lists Windows 11 Home. Notebookcheck’s E14WFK collection identifies an 80 Wh battery; confirm the battery and operating system for the exact retail SKU. |
The E14WFK-039HK figures describe one Hong Kong model, not a global bill of materials. MSI’s family page lists E14WGK with RTX 5070 and E14WEK with RTX 5050; check the complete model code rather than relying on “Crosshair 16 HX” alone.

The available independent reviews should not be mistaken for a direct RTX 5060 benchmark. Tom’s Guide published its review on July 17, 2026, testing an E14W configuration with a Core i7-14650HX, RTX 5070, 16 GB RAM, and 1 TB SSD. Its findings describe that review unit and the broader E14W experience—not measured performance from the E14WFK’s RTX 5060.
#1 Best Overall

On the RTX 5070 unit, Tom’s Guide measured 447 nits brightness, 157.5% sRGB coverage, 111.6% DCI-P3 coverage, and Delta-E 0.2. Those are the publication’s lab measurements, not MSI’s specifications. At the review’s highest settings, it reported 228 fps in Counter-Strike 2, 55 fps in Cyberpunk 2077, 102 fps in Forza Horizon 5, and 143 fps in F1 25. Results depend on the review sample, game versions, settings, and test conditions.
A 240 Hz panel can refresh up to 240 times per second, but that does not mean a demanding game will run at 240 frames per second. In Tom’s Guide’s RTX 5070 sample, the reported frame rates varied substantially by game; those figures should not be transferred to the RTX 5060 E14WFK.

What are the main drawbacks?
Fan noise
Tom’s Guide found cooling effective on its RTX 5070 review unit, but described the fans as very loud. Fan behavior can vary with workload and settings; the review supports treating noise as a potential comfort issue, not a measured noise level for every E14WFK.

Battery life
In Tom’s Guide’s UL Procyon video-loop test, with screen brightness set to 150 nits and keyboard RGB off, its RTX 5070 unit lasted 2 hours 44 minutes. That is a specific test result, not a general battery-life guarantee or an E14WFK-only measurement.
Memory, webcam, and portability
Notebookcheck’s E14WFK collection lists 16 GB memory, a basic 720p webcam, and 2.3 kg weight among the model’s compromises. Since memory configuration can differ by SKU, verify how much is installed and whether one or both slots are occupied before deciding whether an upgrade is needed.

Can you upgrade the RAM and SSD?
MSI lists two DDR5-5600 memory slots, with a maximum of 96 GB, plus one M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen4 slot and one M.2 PCIe Gen5-compatible slot. The E14WFK-039HK regional sheet lists a single 16 GB memory module and one 1 TB Gen4 SSD, suggesting upgrade headroom on that SKU. Before buying memory or a drive, confirm the exact model’s installed configuration and match the component’s form factor and interface to the laptop.

How should you judge whether it is worth buying?
The E14WFK is a plausible choice if you want a QHD+ 240 Hz gaming laptop, an RTX 5060, and the option to expand memory or storage. Whether it is a good purchase depends on the exact local configuration, price, and your tolerance for gaming-laptop trade-offs. The evidence available here does not establish a current price or a controlled, same-method performance comparison between the E14WFK and the RTX 5070 E14WGK.
