It could be—if the current M5 MacBook Air suits your workload and you find a competitive local price on the exact configuration you want. Apple’s latest Air comes in 13-inch and 15-inch sizes, announced in March 2026, but there is no verified festive-season sale price to count on. Why it may be a good festive-season buy
Two sizes suit different priorities
The 13-inch model is the more compact option; the 15-inch model gives you a larger display area. Neither is automatically the better value: the right choice depends on how often you carry the laptop, how much screen space you want, and the price of each equivalent configuration where you live.

When another laptop—or a different Air configuration—makes more sense
Choose memory and storage for your actual workload
The listed 15-inch base configuration has 16GB of unified memory and a 512GB SSD, with larger options configurable. Consider how many demanding apps you keep open, whether your work involves large media or creative projects, and how much of your file library must stay on the laptop. A higher configuration may be worth considering for heavier workloads or larger local files; avoid paying for capacity you do not expect to use. Account for ports and your desk setup
Apple lists two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, MagSafe 3, a headphone jack and USB-C PD charging support for the 15-inch model. Check whether your displays, storage devices or other peripherals connect directly; a compatible hub may be useful if they do not. The listed ports do not mean every buyer needs an extra hub or charger.

- Local price for matching memory and storage, not just the headline price.
- Screen size and portability for the way you work.
- Whether your workload needs stronger sustained performance than the model you are considering can provide.
- Battery evidence, distinguishing manufacturer estimates from independent testing.
- Ports and any accessories your existing setup actually requires.
- Seller reputation, warranty coverage and return terms.
How to decide whether to buy now or wait
- Choose the size and configuration. Decide between 13 and 15 inches, then settle on the memory and storage you expect to need.
- Compare live local listings. Check Apple and reputable retailers for the same model and configuration, including seller, stock and return conditions.
- Judge the deal against current prices for that configuration. A discount is only useful if the final price is competitive for the model you want.
- Wait if the price is not compelling and you do not need the laptop now. A later sale is possible, but no specific festive-season price or discount is established.

The M5 MacBook Air is a sensible festive-season candidate if you want macOS, its size and capabilities match your work, and you find a competitive price on the configuration you need. The 13-inch and 15-inch versions trade portability against screen space, so choose based on your day-to-day use rather than assuming the larger model is automatically better value. If your workload, accessory needs or budget point elsewhere—or the live price is not attractive—compare other options instead of buying for the season alone.
