1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe Lily Audio Genesis One is a $1,200 open-back headphone built around the company’s CrystalCore capacitive driver. Its standout buying consideration is amplification: Lily Audio recommends at least 10 Vrms and says 20 Vrms is ideal. The specifications and sound descriptions below are manufacturer-published; this review does not claim independent measurements or personal listening tests.
What is the Lily Audio Genesis One?
Genesis One is an open-back headphone using Lily Audio’s proprietary CrystalCore solid-state transducer. The company says it is designed, assembled, and hand-tuned in Santa Clara, California. Lily Audio describes CrystalCore as a departure from conventional dynamic and planar-magnetic driver designs; that is the maker’s characterization, not an independent technical assessment. Lily Audio’s product page gives the product details.

Genesis One specifications
| Specification | Manufacturer-published detail |
|---|---|
| Design | Open-back |
| Driver | CrystalCore solid-state transducer |
| Diaphragm | 75 mm |
| Frequency range | 20–55 kHz |
| Sensitivity | 75 dB/V at 1 kHz |
| Weight | 300 g |
| Impedance | Listed as greater than 300 ohms; the maker says impedance varies with frequency because the driver is capacitive |
| Cable | Detachable 3.5 mm, with a 6.3 mm screw-on adapter |
These are Lily Audio’s published specifications, not independent measurements. In particular, do not interpret “greater than 300 ohms” as a conventional fixed impedance: the manufacturer says the capacitive driver’s impedance changes across the frequency range. See the specifications and product information from Lily Audio.
What amplifier does the Genesis One need?
Lily Audio describes the Genesis One as a capacitive load and recommends an amplifier capable of at least 10 Vrms, with 20 Vrms as the ideal target. Its published sensitivity is 75 dB/V at 1 kHz. Check voltage output at the specific output you intend to use; a wattage rating alone does not show whether an amplifier meets the voltage recommendation. The maker’s guidance is on its amplifier guide.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Verify output voltage: Look for the maximum Vrms at the headphone output and load condition you will use. Balanced outputs may offer more voltage swing, but check the actual specifications and connector arrangement.
- Check compatibility: Lily Audio names portable, desktop solid-state, tube/OTL, and speaker-amplifier setups as possibilities, while warning that some Class D amplifiers may be incompatible. These are manufacturer recommendations, not independently verified pairings.
- Consider noise and connection: Confirm that the output is suitable for headphones, that any adapter is appropriate, and that the amplifier is quiet enough for listening.
Lily Audio also says the headphone can handle up to 80 V and that speaker-amplifier use can be safe when following its stated connection practices. This is not a blanket assurance for arbitrary speaker amps or adapters. If following the maker’s advice, set volume to zero before connecting, use a suitable quality adapter or interface, and account for turn-on transients. Do not connect it to an unfamiliar setup without verifying its output and safe operating procedure. Read Lily Audio’s full amplifier guidance.
Genesis 1 versus Genesis 1S
| Difference | Genesis 1 | Genesis 1S |
|---|---|---|
| Driver position and cup | Baseline design | Cup is 3 mm shorter; driver sits about 3 mm closer to the ear, according to Lily Audio |
| Electrical design | No inline resistor specified on the product page | 30-ohm series resistor, according to Lily Audio |
| Manufacturer’s tuning description | More U-shaped, with elevated treble | Somewhat more neutral, slightly more intimate, with mild treble roll-off |
| Soundstage description | Described by the maker as more spacious | Described by the maker as slightly more intimate |
These are Lily Audio’s explanations of the two versions’ construction and voicing, not independent comparative measurements. The right choice depends on whether you prefer the maker-described spacious, brighter Genesis 1 presentation or the 1S’s relatively more neutral and intimate tuning. The company’s product page describes both versions.

How does the Genesis One sound?
Lily Audio characterizes Genesis 1 as U-shaped, spacious, and more elevated in treble than the 1S. Its review roundup also collects subjective praise for soundstage, instrument separation, bass impact, and comfort. The roundup is hosted by the manufacturer, so those comments are attributed opinions rather than a controlled comparison or evidence of general reviewer consensus. One comment attributed there to Oratory1990 describes the impedance as almost purely capacitive and says it draws little current through much of the spectrum.
