CHOICE gave the Kmart Anko 9L Twin Air Fryer AFD2906 a 67% Expert Rating in its 2023 test results. CHOICE reported excellent roast pork and chicken wings, but disappointing frozen chips and crumbed chicken. That is a mixed result rather than a dependable all-round recommendation—and CHOICE now lists the exact model as discontinued.
Be careful when shopping: Kmart’s current listing for a similarly named 9L Twin Air Fryer has different specifications and does not identify itself as model AFD2906. The available information does not establish that it is the same appliance.

How well did the AFD2906 cook?
CHOICE’s 2023 test results give the AFD2906 a 67% Expert Rating. In a media release updated 23 August 2023, CHOICE kitchen expert Fiona Mair described the performance as uneven: roast pork and chicken wings cooked excellently, while frozen chips and crumbed chicken disappointed. Mair said CHOICE recommended investing in other twin air fryers for people wanting to cook two foods at once. CHOICE’s exact-model review still displays the 67% rating, but detailed food-category results are restricted to members. The percentage is CHOICE’s score, not a measure of overall consumer opinion.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThose food-specific findings matter more than the headline capacity if your usual meals include frozen chips or crumbed foods. The public results do not provide a numeric breakdown by food category, so there is no substantiated category score to quote or use to predict results for every recipe.

What are the two pans and presets designed to do?
The AFD2906’s official manual describes two pans, a control panel, presets, and adjustable cooking time and temperature. CHOICE lists a claimed 9L capacity; that figure is not an independent measurement of usable cooking space. The manual says not to put more than 2 kg of food in either basket.
Presets are starting points, not guarantees. The manual lists options including chips, chops, prawns, baking, drumsticks, steaks, fish, pizza, bacon, heating, and defrost. For normal cooking, it describes temperature adjustment from 80°C to 200°C; defrost uses a lower range. You can change preset time and temperature, and the manual warns that food quantity and size may require adjustments. For more even cooking, it recommends smaller batches for small ingredients and turning some foods partway through. It cautions against extremely greasy foods such as sausages. Its cooking-table amounts and times are guidance only.

How does it compare with Kmart’s current 9L listing?
The model distinction is important if you are trying to buy or identify this exact appliance. CHOICE marks the AFD2906 discontinued. Kmart’s live page is titled “9L Twin Air Fryer,” but it does not identify the product as AFD2906. The specifications differ, and the pages do not establish whether the current listing is a different model or revision.

Specifications and listing status are from CHOICE’s AFD2906 review and Kmart’s current 9L Twin Air Fryer page. Do not use the live listing’s power, dimensions, weight, price, or availability as facts about an AFD2906. CHOICE’s 23 August 2023 release reported $125 at the time of publication, which is historical pricing, not a current offer. CHOICE’s release also provides Fiona Mair’s dated assessment.

What should owners know about setup, safety, and cleaning?
Before cooking
- Remove packaging, wipe the appliance body with a damp cloth, and wash and dry the accessories with soapy water before first use.
- Do not immerse the main unit or fill the appliance with oil, frying fat, or another liquid.
- Place it on a stable, dry, heat-resistant surface. Keep the air inlet and outlet uncovered and observe the manual’s clearance guidance from walls and heat-sensitive materials.
While it is hot
- Use the pan handles and oven mitts when removing hot pans. Steam may escape when a pan is opened.
- If substantial smoke escapes, stop using the appliance and unplug it.
After cooking
- Unplug the fryer and let it cool before cleaning. The manual says the pan and drip tray are dishwasher safe, and recommends a non-abrasive sponge. Check the manual supplied with your unit if its model or accessories differ.
- Do not immerse the appliance body. The manual says repairs should be done by a qualified electrical person and warns against replacing components with parts not designed specifically for the AFD2906.
What warranty and coating details are established?
CHOICE lists a one-year warranty, and the official AFD2906 manual includes a 12-month warranty statement. CHOICE says it did not check whether the coating is free of PFAS or PTFE, so the available information does not support describing it as PFAS-free or PTFE-free.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Should you buy the AFD2906?
If you are considering a second-hand or remaining-stock AFD2906, weigh CHOICE’s mixed 2023 cooking results against the foods you cook most often, the appliance’s condition, and whether you can verify the exact model. Its claimed 9L capacity alone does not establish usable capacity or cooking consistency. CHOICE’s public category-level results are not available, so a finer-grained performance comparison cannot be made from the published rating and release.

Before choosing any twin air fryer, compare performance on the foods you actually make, usable capacity rather than claimed total volume, counter dimensions, control flexibility when cooking two foods, cleaning, warranty support, and confirmed current availability. CHOICE’s 2023 advice also points shoppers to counter space, capacity, controls, and energy efficiency. For this specific model, the most important practical caution is that a current Kmart 9L listing is not confirmed as the AFD2906.
