The Klipsch GIG XXL is a loud, bass-forward portable party speaker with Bluetooth, light effects, an included wired microphone, and a ¼-inch instrument input. It makes the most sense for gatherings and casual karaoke where output and easy live input matter more than deep sub-bass, detailed sound controls, or verified weather protection. Its battery may also fall short of an evening at high volume: RTINGS recorded six hours in its testing, while Klipsch says to expect about eight hours of regular listening.
What the GIG XXL offers
Klipsch announced the GIG XXL on June 21, 2023 as a larger portable party speaker. Its layout pairs two 6.5-inch woofers with two 2-inch tweeters, and it includes Bluetooth playback, dynamic light effects, and a bass-boost mode. Klipsch lists 80 watts RMS and publishes a maximum acoustic output figure of 110.7 dB at 0.5 m; those are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. Klipsch’s announcement and its support specification sheet provide the figures and features.

The speaker is built around more than wireless music. It has a microphone input and a ¼-inch instrument input for compatible guitars, keyboards, drum machines, and other equipment. Klipsch says two GIG XXL speakers can be paired for stereo playback. Klipsch’s product page describes that pairing feature.

RTINGS characterizes the GIG XXL as designed to get loud and finds its sound bass-heavy and warm, a fit for styles such as EDM and hip-hop. That emphasis gives party tracks weight, but it is not the same as reproducing the deepest bass: RTINGS says the speaker does not deliver the lowest low-bass rumble. The bass button can add more impact, but there is no comprehensive graphic EQ for tailoring the overall sound. See RTINGS’ independent review for its listening and test findings.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That makes the GIG XXL a better match for listeners who value energetic, full-sounding music over neutral playback or fine-grained tone adjustment. If you regularly want to tune several frequency bands or prioritize sub-bass depth, its controls and low-end reach are meaningful compromises.
Battery life: six hours tested, about eight claimed
The two runtime figures come from different sources and conditions. RTINGS reported six hours of battery life in its testing; its review was published February 2, 2024 and updated August 28, 2026. Klipsch’s support article says a fully charged battery should provide about eight hours of regular music listening, and warns that use at maximum volume can shorten runtime. Neither number guarantees the same result in every setup. For a long, loud event, plan for access to power rather than treating either figure as a promise. RTINGS’ results and Klipsch’s FAQ give the respective figures.

Karaoke, instruments, and wired connections
Microphone and instrument use
A wired microphone is included in the package, according to Klipsch’s announcement, so karaoke does not require buying a microphone just to get started. The ¼-inch input supports a compatible instrument connection, making the speaker useful for informal practice or performances where a portable all-in-one setup is more important than a dedicated PA rig. Check your instrument’s output and cable needs before connecting; the documentation does not establish that an instrument cable is included or identify a specific compatible spare microphone. Klipsch’s announcement describes the included mic and supported inputs.
AUX, USB, and charging
For wired audio, the GIG XXL has a 3.5 mm line input and output. Klipsch says AUX cables are not included, so a cable is only an additional item to consider if you choose that connection instead of Bluetooth. The USB port can play MP3 and WAV files from a USB stick. It can also charge a phone or another USB device while the speaker is powered on, but doing so drains the speaker’s battery faster. See Klipsch’s specifications and support FAQ.

Can you use it outdoors?
RTINGS considers the GIG XXL acceptable for outdoor use, but notes that it has no specified dust or water resistance rating. It should not be treated as weatherproof: there is no stated protection rating to rely on around rain, splashes, or dust. For outdoor gatherings, use it in a sheltered, dry location and bring it inside if conditions change. RTINGS’ review discusses the rating limitation.
How it compares with the JBL PartyBox 110
RTINGS’ comparison identifies different strengths rather than a universal winner. In its account, the JBL PartyBox 110 has an IP rating, longer battery life, and a graphic EQ; the GIG XXL produces more bass and sounds less muffled in the highs. Choose according to the conditions and controls you need, and verify the specific model details for your market before buying. RTINGS’ comparison covers these differences.
