The itel P55 4G is a basic-use budget phone whose strongest points are its smooth 90Hz screen, capable everyday performance and long battery life. Its HD+ display is difficult to read in direct sun, low-light photos disappoint, and charging is slow. Those trade-offs make it a better fit for browsing, calls and daylight photography than for gaming, night shots or frequent quick top-ups.
Which itel P55 is this review about?
This is the India-market itel P55 4G, not the similarly named P55 5G or P55+. The manufacturer’s product page calls it POWER 55 and lists a 6.6-inch punch-hole display with 90Hz refresh, a Unisoc T606 processor, Android 13, a 50MP rear camera, a 5000mAh battery, USB Type-C and an 18W charger. itel’s product specifications also say memory configurations vary by region and that specifications may change.

Memory figures need a little context: the advertised maximum of 24GB combines 8GB physical RAM with 16GB of extended memory, rather than representing 24GB of physical RAM. India launch coverage described a 12GB total-memory, 128GB-storage option that included virtual memory. Check the local SKU rather than assuming every market offers the same configuration.

How good is the display and design?
In Dhruv Joshi’s 91mobiles review, published 25 March 2024, the 6.6-inch LCD’s 90Hz refresh made scrolling feel smooth, and the reviewer liked its viewing angles. The main drawback was outdoor visibility: the screen was hard to read in direct sunlight. The review also reports YouTube playback at up to 1080p.
The same review describes a plastic rear with a shimmering gradient, flat sides, thin bezels with a wider chin, and a punch-hole selfie camera. It measures 190g in weight and 8mm in thickness. These are reviewer-reported observations, not measurements made for this article.

What are the cameras like?
The headline 50MP figure does not guarantee strong results in every setting. Joshi found daylight rear-camera photos generally pleasing, with vibrant color and adequate detail, but noted softer edges and detail loss when zooming. Daylight selfies were good overall, although skin tones could look washed out.
Low light is the more significant weakness. The reviewer found night photos blurry and grainy even with Super Night mode, sometimes needing several attempts. Treat the P55 as a more convincing daylight camera than a dependable choice for night photography.

Is performance good enough for everyday use and games?
The Unisoc T606 and the reviewer’s software experience were adequate for general browsing and everyday tasks. Joshi also found the phone usable for casual gaming, including BGMI at HD resolution and high frame-rate settings, but reported better frame rates after lowering the resolution. That makes it a modest option for occasional play, not a gaming-first recommendation.
The review says dynamic or virtual RAM made little difference in ordinary use, with some improvement in resource-heavy tasks such as gaming. The extra-memory figure should therefore not be treated as equivalent to the same amount of physical RAM.

What software does it run?
The reviewed phone ran Android 13 with itel’s custom interface. The review notes that some apps came preinstalled and that most could be removed. It also describes a dynamic-island-style bar for selected notifications and status events, along with Game Space, game mode, dual-app functionality, video assistant and automatic call recording.
The cited product and review information does not establish an Android-version or security-update commitment. Buyers who prioritize long-term updates should verify the policy for the exact regional model before purchasing.

How long does the battery last, and how fast does it charge?
itel specifies a 5000mAh battery and 18W charging. In Joshi’s mixed-use day of YouTube, games, browsing and long calls, the phone ended with around 19% charge remaining. In the 91mobiles PCMark battery test in 2024, it lasted 19 hours and 55 minutes. Those are results from that reviewer’s usage and test conditions, not a guarantee of anyone else’s battery life.
The same review reports around 2.5 hours for a full charge from 0 to 100%. That is a notable drawback if you often need a quick recharge.
What did it cost in India, and what should buyers check now?
The available prices are historical, not current offers. Gadgets 360 reported on 8 February 2024 that the 12GB total-memory (including virtual memory), 128GB-storage configuration was priced at Rs 7,999 inclusive of bank discounts, with Amazon India sales scheduled to begin on 13 February 2024. The 91mobiles review, published 25 March 2024, assessed the phone at Rs 7,499. Neither figure establishes today’s price, stock or listing identity.
