The Infinix Hot 50 5G is a sensible low-cost choice if you want everyday performance, 5G, a large battery and expandable storage without spending much. Its 120Hz screen is smooth but only HD+ resolution, charging is modest, and the phone’s long-term Android upgrade outlook is unclear. Whether it is a good buy now depends on the price and stock you find in India.
What the Infinix Hot 50 5G gets right
Launched in India in 2024, the Hot 50 5G pairs MediaTek’s Dimensity 6300 with a 5,000mAh battery, IP54-rated protection and microSD expansion. The 91mobiles review by Dhruv Joshi, published on 24 September 2024, rated it 8.0/10. The reviewer highlighted performance for the price, build quality, low-light camera results and battery life. Performance and storage
The Dimensity 6300 gives the phone a capable foundation for everyday apps and 5G connectivity. Gadgets 360 lists 4GB/128GB and 8GB/128GB versions, with microSD expansion supported up to 1,000GB. Buyers should check the exact memory variant in the seller’s listing; the 4GB model and 8GB model are not interchangeable configurations. See the Gadgets 360 specifications and listings.

The listed battery capacity is 5,000mAh. In 91mobiles’ review, PCMark’s battery test did not work with the phone, so the reviewer instead reported 9 hours 46 minutes using the 3C battery manager, plus more than seven hours in personal use. Those are that reviewer’s results using the stated methods, not a guarantee of typical runtime. 91mobiles specifies 18W charging and criticizes its speed; Gadgets 360 lists proprietary fast charging without giving a wattage.

Camera results
The rear camera is listed at 48MP and the selfie camera at 8MP. Joshi found the main camera capable, including in low light. Daylight photos could be detailed but sometimes overexposed, with weak white balance and noticeably boosted colours. The review does not establish long-term camera behavior or comprehensive video quality.
Build and protection
Gadgets 360 lists an IP54 rating, which indicates limited protection against dust and water splashes—not waterproofing. The review also praised the phone’s build quality. Do not treat the rating as protection against immersion or careless exposure to liquids.

Where the compromises matter
A smooth but low-resolution display
The 6.7-inch display is listed at 720 × 1600 pixels with a 120Hz refresh rate. Scrolling and motion can look smooth, but the HD+ resolution is less sharp than a higher-resolution panel, and 91mobiles criticized the screen’s brightness. If you often read small text or use your phone outdoors in bright sunlight, the display is a meaningful trade-off.
Charging and software uncertainty
The phone launched with Android 14 and XOS 14. The 91mobiles review criticized the lack of major OS upgrades, while its product listing reports two years of security updates. A definitive upgrade schedule, current installed Android version and current security patch are not established by those sources. If keeping a phone current for several years matters to you, verify the update commitment and software status for the exact device before buying.

Who should consider the Hot 50 5G?
- Consider it if you want an inexpensive 5G phone for everyday use and value the Dimensity 6300, 5,000mAh capacity, microSD expansion and IP54 rating.
- Look elsewhere if a sharper, brighter screen, faster charging or a clearly documented major-Android-upgrade commitment matters more to you.
- Before choosing a variant, compare the actual seller price and stock for both memory configurations; the 8GB/128GB version may be worth considering if the price difference is small for your needs.
When comparing another budget 5G phone, focus on current street price and stock, outdoor screen brightness and resolution, charging speed, software-update commitments, camera consistency, memory configuration and protection rating. The 91mobiles review names the itel Color Pro 5G and Realme Narzo N65 5G as competitors, but the available evidence here does not establish current prices, availability or comparative test results for those phones.

The Infinix Hot 50 5G earned a positive 8.0/10 assessment in 91mobiles’ 2024 review, chiefly for price-relative performance, battery life and low-light photos. It remains a conditional choice rather than an automatic recommendation: buy it only if a current India listing offers the configuration you want at a low price and you can accept the HD+ display, modest charging and uncertain major-upgrade outlook.
