The Venu X1 is not a universal upgrade over an Apple Watch: choose an Apple Watch if iPhone integration, Apple-specific connected features, or Ultra 3 satellite communications matter more. Battery claims also vary by model and test mode, so compare your routine rather than treating them as a direct head-to-head result.
Who should buy the Garmin Venu X1?
The Venu X1 makes the most sense for someone who values fitness and outdoor features alongside a smartwatch, particularly built-in maps, Garmin training metrics, and a slim design with a large rectangular AMOLED screen. It is listed at $699.99 USD on Garmin’s US product comparison page at research time; check current local pricing before buying. Garmin’s June 2025 announcement gave a $799.99 suggested retail price, which is a historical launch figure, not the price currently listed on that comparison page. - Consider it if built-in mapping, training readiness and training status, a flashlight, and a broad set of Garmin fitness features are priorities.
- Look closely at Apple Watch if your priority is an iPhone-centered connected-watch experience or Apple-specific health and safety features.
- Compare it with Apple Watch Ultra 3 if satellite communication or a longer manufacturer-listed battery estimate is important; those capabilities are not a like-for-like comparison with the standard Apple Watch Series 11.
How do the Venu X1 and Apple Watch compare?
“Apple Watch” covers models with substantially different capabilities. The table uses Series 11 and Ultra 3 as reference points, not as a claim that every Apple Watch has the same features. Apple’s figures below are manufacturer estimates under its published test conditions, not results from a controlled comparison against Garmin.

What should you know about battery life and charging?
Battery estimates describe different operating modes, not a guaranteed number of days for every wearer. On the Venu X1, the always-on display changes Garmin’s smartwatch estimate from up to 8 days to up to 2 days. GPS and music use have their own shorter estimates, so frequent recorded outdoor workouts or always-on use may make the headline smartwatch figure a poor guide to your routine. Garmin notes that enabled features and usage affect actual life. Garmin comparison; Venu X1 manual.

Apple’s Series 11 and Ultra 3 estimates are also model-specific and based on Apple’s stated test conditions. They are useful for planning, but not a controlled comparison with Garmin’s modes. If charging tolerance is decisive, compare the manufacturer’s estimate for the exact model and mode you expect to use rather than assuming that “days” and “hours” are measured identically.

Which one should you choose?
- Choose Venu X1 if Garmin’s built-in maps and training metrics are the deciding features, and you want them in a light, slim watch with a large rectangular display.
- Choose Series 11 if an iPhone-centered Apple Watch experience is the priority and its listed up-to-24-hour battery estimate fits your charging routine.
- Consider Ultra 3 if you want Apple Watch features with a longer listed battery estimate than Series 11 and value its satellite communication; verify model-specific availability and service conditions.
- Pause before buying either if you need a firm promise about real-world battery life, GPS accuracy, or health-sensor accuracy. Manufacturer specifications alone do not establish how either watch will perform for an individual wearer.
