Why the standard Pistol is not a faithful M1911
According to the Fortnite Wiki’s visual analysis, the standard model combines recognizable elements from three pistols rather than reproducing one model throughout.

- Beretta M9 cues: the hammer, trigger, and trigger guard.
- M1911 cues: the manual and grip safeties, along with slide serrations.
- Browning Hi-Power cues: the slide’s overall shape.
- Another M9-like detail: a cut-out in the slide.
The Wiki also lists the standard Pistol’s in-game magazine capacity as 16 rounds, which it considers more consistent with the higher-capacity magazine designs of the M9 or Hi-Power than with a standard M1911. That is an in-game specification and does not establish the model’s real-world identity.

Epic’s weapon-template documentation explains that creators can remove and replace weapon meshes. That establishes that creator-made Fortnite weapons can have modified appearances. It does not identify the real-world inspiration for the Battle Royale Pistol.
