Buy it now if you already own Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, intend to play its announced story and strategy additions, and accept paying before every wave is released. Wait if you want to evaluate the later stories, allies, and classes first, or if the currently available weapons are all you want. The pass is an all-or-nothing bundle, and its biggest additions do not arrive until holiday 2026 and 2027.
This is digital DLC for Nintendo Switch 2. It does not include the base game, and Nintendo does not sell Wave 1, Wave 2, or Wave 3 separately.

What the Expansion Pass includes
Nintendo describes the pass as DLC that adds stories, recruitable gods, and other content to Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. One purchase grants access to all three waves as they release. You need a Nintendo Switch 2 and the full game; the pass cannot be played by itself.

1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe content is delivered over time rather than as one package available on launch day. Wave 1 is available now (October 14, 2026). Wave 2 is planned for the holiday or winter 2026 period, while Wave 3 is scheduled for 2027. Nintendo has announced what each wave contains, but the quality, length, and balance of the unreleased material have not been independently verified.
#1 Best Overall
- Here, order is maintained by the Church of Seiros from its headquarters at Garreg Mach Monastery, home to the Officers Academy, where you’re invited to teach one of its three mighty houses: The Black Eagles, The Blue Lions, and The Golden Deer.
- Which house will you choose?
- As its professor, you must lead your students in class and in tactical RPG battles wrought with strategic, new twists to overcome.
Wave 1: prototype weapons
Wave 1 adds prototype weapons for the four heroes. Their designs are modeled after the Heroes’ Relics from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. This is the only wave currently available, so a buyer who purchases today can use these weapons immediately after installing the DLC.
Wave 2: gods and outfits
Wave 2 is scheduled for the holiday or winter 2026 window. It lets you enlist the gods Aurora, Smyrnos, and Jurah, and adds new wearable outfits. Nintendo has not supplied a more precise launch date in the announced schedule.
Wave 3: stories, allies, and classes
Wave 3 is planned for 2027 and is the pass’s largest announced expansion. It introduces new stories featuring Bertrand, Talimun, Orchel, and Anatolia, along with recruitable allies and additional classes. Details such as story length, recruitment conditions, class abilities, and whether the new campaigns integrate with an existing save have not been announced.

- Command Fire Emblem: Three Houses characters like Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude in epic real-time battles
- Play through three distinct storylines set in the Fire Emblem: Three Houses universe, each with a different ending, from the point of view of a new protagonist, Shez.
- Combine the action-packed Warriors-style gameplay with the strategy and style of the Fire Emblem series
- Fight through hordes of enemies with Fire Emblem: Three Houses characters and their distinct abilities
- Use Fire Emblem series mechanics like the weapons triangle, character classes, crests, and battalions to tailor your strategy
| Wave | Announced content | Availability | What is known about value |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Prototype weapons for the four heroes, inspired by Three Houses Heroes’ Relics | Available October 14, 2026 | Immediate equipment-focused addition; no independent assessment of power or usefulness is available |
| 2 | Enlist Aurora, Smyrnos, and Jurah; new wearable outfits | Holiday/winter 2026 | Release window and features are confirmed; scope and gameplay impact are not |
| 3 | New stories starring Bertrand, Talimun, Orchel, and Anatolia; recruitable allies and classes | 2027 | Potentially the most substantial wave, but length, structure, and balance remain unknown |
The schedule matters more than the first wave
The pass’s timing creates a clear trade-off. Wave 1 is ready to use, but the story and character additions many players associate with a substantial expansion are deferred. Someone starting a campaign in October 2026 could finish the base game before Wave 2 arrives, then wait again for the 2027 material. Conversely, a player who expects to return for multiple campaigns may prefer having every wave automatically available rather than making a new purchase decision later.
“Holiday/winter 2026” is a seasonal window, not a fixed date. Wave 3 has only a year-level target. Treat those announcements as planned timing rather than a guarantee of a particular day. Nintendo’s confirmed promise is access to all three waves as they release, not simultaneous access or a pre-release download of the unfinished content.
Price, prerequisites, and what your purchase actually covers
Nintendo of Canada’s 2026 news page lists the Expansion Pass at $49.99. The page does not identify the currency code, so that figure should not be relabeled as US dollars. Check the price displayed for your own Nintendo account region before confirming payment. The same Canadian page lists a game-plus-pass bundle at $144.99; that is relevant only when you do not already own the base game.

| Buyer situation | Required purchase | Pass decision |
|---|---|---|
| You own the game and a Switch 2 | Expansion Pass only | Compare the listed regional price with how much of Waves 2 and 3 you expect to play |
| You own the game but not a Switch 2 | Switch 2, the game, and the digital pass | The platform and base-game cost dominate the budget; the pass is not usable without them |
| You own neither | Switch 2 plus the game, or the listed game-plus-pass bundle | Compare the bundle’s regional price and contents with separate purchases; the Canadian listing is $144.99 |
| You want only Wave 1 | No standalone Wave 1 purchase exists | Buying the full pass is the only way to obtain it as DLC |
The pass is digital DLC, not a physical cartridge or boxed product. It is redeemed through Nintendo’s digital storefront and is tied to the Nintendo account that makes the purchase. Ensure that the account and console region you use are the ones on which you play the base game.

Existing owners planning a long-term campaign
Buy now when you already have the game, expect to play more than one campaign or revisit it over the next year, and value having the announced additions secured in one transaction. This audience is most likely to use prototype weapons immediately, return for the three gods and outfits in winter, and still be playing when the new stories, allies, and classes arrive in 2027.
Players who want the complete announced package
If your preferred way to play is to wait for a game’s planned expansion arc and then experience every component, the pass provides a straightforward commitment: one purchase covers all three waves. You do not need to monitor separate product listings or risk forgetting a later release. The benefit is convenience and guaranteed access, not an early discount that Nintendo has explicitly documented.

New buyers comparing a bundle
Someone purchasing the game and DLC together can consider Nintendo’s game-plus-pass listing. Confirm the final amount and currency on the storefront for your region, and verify that the bundle includes the full game rather than assuming the pass is a standalone edition.
Who should wait
Players interested only in the current weapons
There is no lower-cost Wave 1 option. If prototype weapons are your only interest, the all-or-nothing pass forces you to pay for two future waves whose scope is not yet known. Waiting is rational if you would rather see whether the later content justifies the combined price.
Players sensitive to untested story and class quality
Wave 3 carries the most narrative and systems content, but it is not scheduled until 2027. No independent review scores, completion-time estimates, player surveys, or hands-on testing establish how much that wave will add. Waiting lets you judge the finished stories, recruitable allies, and classes before committing, although Nintendo could change the release timing while you wait.
Best Value
- Enter the Dagdan Empire—a prosperous land ruled by the gods—and compete in the Heroic Games for the chance to be granted one wish
- Play as four heroes competing in the Heroic Games whose fortunes are tied to the fate of the world
- Prepare for each match of the Heroic Games by exploring Dagda and its capital city of Dagsion
- Learn skills at the training grounds, recruit allies and build bonds of friendship, and explore beyond Dagsion’s walls to gain experience
- Use everything you have at your disposal, including your heroes’ special abilities, to turn the tide of battle
Players unlikely to keep the game installed
If you expect to finish one campaign soon and move to other games, delayed content has less practical value. You would be paying today for access you may not use until months later. The pass becomes more compelling when you already know you will return for additional campaigns or post-game builds.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.A practical buy-or-wait test
- Confirm ownership. You need the complete Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave game and a Nintendo Switch 2. If either is missing, include that cost before judging the DLC.
- Separate immediate wants from future wants. Write down whether you want Wave 1’s weapons, Wave 2’s gods and outfits, Wave 3’s stories, or all three. If your list contains only Wave 1, remember that no individual-wave purchase is offered.
- Set a delay tolerance. Decide whether waiting for the holiday/winter 2026 and 2027 releases is acceptable. A pass bought now does not turn those windows into launch-day content.
- Check your regional price. The $49.99 figure published by Nintendo of Canada has no explicit currency code on that page. Use the amount shown in your own eShop before payment.
- Choose your risk preference. Buy now if guaranteed access and convenience outweigh uncertainty. Wait if evidence about the unreleased stories and classes matters more than having the first wave today.
How to purchase and access the DLC
- On your Nintendo Switch 2, open the Nintendo eShop with the account that owns or will own the base game.
- Search for Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Expansion Pass and read the edition description. Confirm that it is digital DLC and that the listing includes all three waves as they release.
- Check the displayed regional price and confirm that the account region matches the region used for your base game.
- Complete the purchase, then download the available DLC. Wave 1 can be installed now; later waves will become downloadable when Nintendo releases them.
- Start Fortune’s Weave and follow the game’s DLC or inventory prompts to locate the prototype weapons. Future gods, outfits, stories, allies, and classes will require the corresponding wave to have launched and downloaded.
If the content does not appear, verify that you are using the purchasing Nintendo account, that the base game is installed on the same Switch 2, and that the console has completed the DLC download. Buying the pass does not replace ownership of the game itself.
Important limitations and unknowns
- No separate waves: Nintendo does not sell Wave 1, Wave 2, or Wave 3 individually. There is no official way to buy only the weapons or only the 2027 stories.
- Unreleased content is untested: Announced names and features do not establish story length, difficulty, replay value, class balance, or the usefulness of the new allies.
- Schedule windows are broad: Wave 2 has a holiday/winter 2026 target and Wave 3 a 2027 target, rather than fixed dates in the available announcement.
- Regional pricing differs: The cited $49.99 amount comes from Nintendo of Canada and is not explicitly labeled with a currency code. Do not assume it is the price in another country.
- Platform requirement: The pass is for Nintendo Switch 2 and requires the full game. It is not a standalone way to play Fortune’s Weave.
- Digital ownership: The purchase is delivered through Nintendo’s digital storefront. It should be made on the account and region you intend to use for the game.
Bottom line for different buyers
| Your priority | Best choice | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Use every announced addition and keep playing into 2027 | Buy now | You secure all three waves and can use Wave 1 immediately |
| Get only prototype weapons | Wait or skip | Wave 1 cannot be bought separately, so the pass also commits you to future content |
| Judge story, allies, and classes before paying | Wait | Those features are delayed and their quality is not yet independently established |
| Purchase the game for the first time | Compare the game-plus-pass bundle | The bundle may simplify the purchase, but verify the regional price and included edition |
For an existing owner who already expects a long relationship with Fortune’s Weave, the Expansion Pass is a reasonable early commitment. For everyone else, waiting preserves your ability to judge the two larger waves before spending on content that is not yet available. The decisive question is not whether Wave 1 exists—it does—but whether you are willing to pay now for the promise of Wave 2 and Wave 3.
