What the Airwrap adds to your setup
Dyson describes the Airwrap as a multi-styler and dryer. Its interchangeable attachments cover curling and waves, brush-based shaping, drying, and smoothing. That can consolidate several jobs if you actually switch among those styles; it does not automatically make your separate dryer or curling iron redundant. The Airwrap i.d. adds connectivity: according to Dyson’s August 26, 2024 announcement, users enter their hair type, length, and skill level in the MyDyson app, and the device automates a curl sequence of wrapping, styling, and setting. That may appeal if you want guided, repeatable curls. It is not proof that the curls will look better or that the device offers better value.

Dyson says the Coanda smoothing dryer attachment delivers up to 58% less frizz and flyaways compared with air drying. That is a manufacturer claim with air drying as the baseline—not a comparison with your existing hair dryer or curling iron. Dyson Airwrap attachments

Decide whether the overlap is useful
Consider an Airwrap if you regularly want several styles
It is more compelling if your routine includes drying plus curls or waves, brush styling, or smoothing, and you expect to use the attachments in the particular set you buy. An all-in-one system can be convenient when you genuinely move between those jobs. The available sources do not establish real-world time savings, so treat convenience as a potential fit for your routine, not a guaranteed result.
Keep your current tools if they already do the job
If you are happy with your dryer and curling iron and usually wear one familiar style, the Airwrap’s range of functions may not add enough to justify another system. You might pay for attachments you rarely use, and the product description alone cannot establish that its finish will suit you better.

There is no independent head-to-head comparison in the cited material that ranks results, ease of use, durability, or value against a separate dryer and curling iron.
Compare the model and the included attachments
Model names, set contents, compatibility, and availability can change. Dyson describes the Airwrap i.d. as app-connected, with an automated curl sequence; its Co-anda2x product page describes intelligent attachments, airflow and heat adjustments, and app connectivity. These descriptions do not independently rank the models. Check the current listing for the exact generation and attachments before buying; do not assume a set includes every tool you want.

- Barrels: Check that the included barrels support your preferred curl or wave size and direction.
- Brushes: Look for the brush attachments that match your desired smooth or voluminous styles.
- Drying or smoothing: Consider whether the included attachment adds a useful function beyond your existing dryer.
- App features: Decide whether app setup and automated curl timing are useful to you, rather than paying for connectivity you will ignore.

Understand what Dyson’s heat claims do—and don’t—mean
Dyson says the Airwrap i.d. uses airflow and controlled heat, keeps temperature below 302°F, and is designed to help protect hair from heat damage. Those are manufacturer statements, not independent proof of no damage or of less damage than every conventional dryer or curling iron.
